Food minimum $x++

Rosario, on April 6, 2022 at 1:17 AM Posted in Planning 7 7

Hey all, we got a brochure back from a venue and they've been difficult to get a hold of. Their brochure mentions their food and bev minimum with a ++ at the end. Has anyone seen that before? What does it mean? Is this their way of increasing the minimum on a whim?

    I think that usually refers to the fact the listed cost doesn't include taxes, fees, and gratuities.

    If they are difficult to reach before you sign a contract, move on. That is a sign of how communicative they will be during the planning process after you commit. Only they can tell you what their price list means and includes.

    I agree with the pp. If they have been difficult to get a hold of then they would not be the best place to go ahead with. Also, I would think that any marks like that on prices could mean they would change the prices as they see fit. I would be careful with this place if I were you Smiley smile.

    Sometimes symbols like that refer to fine print at the bottom or end of the brochure, is there anything like that on there?

    I'd 100% recommend getting that spelled out before signing anything. Whether it's a fine print symbol like Ashlee mentioned or it means that their minimum may change, you don't want to be on the hook for way more than you planned.

    At first I thought that’s what it was too, but didn’t see any footnotes.

    Adding ++ to the end of a price essentially means plus taxes and fees (aka a service charge). I'd ask them to clarify - taxes are easy to estimate as they'd be determined by the state, but the company would determine the amount service fee.
