fmil - Positive

Erin, on December 20, 2019 at 12:05 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 7

There was some drama between me and my FH recently and I considered calling off the wedding. We're ok now, but it was touch and go for a bit. While all of this was going on, I talked to his mom and she fully supported me and was giving me advice. At one point she said I shouldn't marry him, which is a shame, because she really loves me, and would love to have me as her daughter in law, and she didn't think her son could find a better woman. It really meant a lot to me, and helped me get through a lot of the grossness that was going on. I definitely won the FMIL lottery. I wanted to post something positive, because there are so many posts about bad MILs.

I’m so glad things are working out for you and you have someone so supportive. My mil lives far away but she has always been so sweet to me and I’m glad she’s there.

My fmil is just like that. When she would find out my fh and i would argue, she would ask him what he did to me lol. Once he got upset about a comment i made, his mom was there and she told me to yell at him. But its so awesome she's like that. My mom is nothing like this and will take my brother side, even when he's being mean to his wife. So we are very blessed.

I'm glad it all worked out! I won the same lottery with my FMIL, she's a treat! I also have a difficult FH and sometimes I want to strangle him, but I never don't want to marry him!!

I'm glad you worked it out! As for the FMIL lottery, I won that too!! My FMIL is so loving and positive, she's always got a sunny outlook on life, even in difficult times. And, she knows her son can be difficult to live with at times, so she is always coming to my rescue!! I'm so lucky to have her!

I wont that lottery too! I honestly talk to my FMIL just as much if not more than my own mom. I've had a lot going on with my family lately, and she has been more than supportive. I honestly could not have asked for a better FMIL, and I am happy to have her as a friend too.

My FMIL is great. She drives me a little bonkers sometimes, but no more so than my own mom does. I don't necessarily agree with her on everything, but her heart is always in the right place. She and my FFIL are generous and considerate, and I feel like I lucked out for sure!

My FSIL, on the other hand, is A LOT. She's overly dramatic and unintentionally selfish at times (literally managed to turn the phone call of my FH announcing our engagement into a woe-is-me story about drama with her ex). I still don't understand how she and my FH were raised by the same parents. I don't really have a problem with her, and she's not a bad person, but she's definitely the wild card in the family. Every family has to have at least one.
