Floral: Silk vs. Real

Brandi, on June 24, 2019 at 4:29 PM Posted in Style and Décor 2 5

I am trying to keep my budget in order and I REALLY do love beautiful floral arrangements but it's just not something that I am comfortable spending thousands on. They are here today and gone tomorrow, so it's a lot of money for us. I am considering using silk rental bouquets from companies such as Something Borrowed Blooms. You rent the silk flowers and then send them back after the wedding. Has anyone had any success with any silk flower rental companies? There are so many to choose from! What are some of the companies you would recommend? What was positive or negative about your experience?

You might not even need to rent it. Go to craft stores like Michael's and you could even find nice ones for so cheap to arrange yourself. That's what I did, I found really cheap fake flowers there for my bouquets.

My mom is purchasing flowers for me and she is getting them from Michael’s. They have really nice flowers and watch for coupon’s from them and they usually print a coupon when you make a purchase. I would check Michael’s before you decide to rent.

We are using silk flowers. So much cheaper, especially since they were 50% off! They look just as beautiful as real flowers.

I'm all for real flowers. I had originally thought about using silk in the beginning because I wanted to keep my bouquet however I just love real flowers so much and was so glad I opted to use real flowers. They looked and smelled amazing! Keep in mind Silk flowers can cost just as much if not even more than real flowers. If you are concerned about price check out your local farms for flowers. A lot of times they can make bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres for you. I got my flowers for my centerpieces from a local farm and it was reasonable.

I was looking at that website as well - for bouquets and boutonnieres specifically, my real flower quotes were almost exactly the same for a similar look and size. Centerpieces and ceremony flowers were a lot cheaper, but you are stuck with that look. I personally wanted tall centerpieces. In the end, I may end up with real flowers, but it has more to do with convenience (planning from a state away) than pricing.
