Floral bouquet diy alternatives

Megan, on June 30, 2019 at 9:47 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 2

I know there is an extensive post on here about how a bride did amazing floral work with the Sam's Club floral, so this is more of a brainstorm question.
My mom really wants my bouquet professionally made, and is paying for it because of that, which is fine. I'm just now talking to florists and getting prices and man! They are expensive! I was looking online yesterday, and a beautiful bridal bouquet runs an average of like $150. But I can order a great bouquet to deliver to someone as a gift that is just as great for maybe $75. So, what's to stop me from just ordering one of those standard bouquets for myself and then just wrapping it with floral tape and ribbon and using it for my bridal bouquet?
Is that crazy? It's not full blown bouquet DIY, but it seems like a great alternative. What are potential downsides I'm not seeing?

Also, my Dad is making us a little copper pipe arbor (he's a plumber, so the copper piping is VERY fitting!) and I want to make a swag or two for that but don't necessarily want to deal with live flowers on the day of... could I do some fake greenery and paper flowers? Fake flowers from the craft store? Anyone have success with this?

I’ve seen a lot of ads for cork based or some type of wood based fake flowers lately. Southern Blooms is the one I’m looking at. The pictures look beautiful and they’ll last forever. I’m thinking about doing that. I think the bouquets are still pricey but I may go with it so I can keep the arrangement forever.

Hobby Lobby and Michael's both have beautiful artificial flowers, and they have really good sales all throughout the year.

There are also a lot of artificial flower sellers on Etsy. Check it out.
