Flats for ceremnoy/reception

Nicole, on January 25, 2021 at 9:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I really want to wear a flat. I came across these two options, the pashionista although expense converts from a stiletto to a flat so I felt like I could get some major use out of that. Anyone own a pair? Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm attaching a picture of my dress as well.

Wait...this seems genius! I've never heard of a shoe that does that haha. I'm wearing a similar style stilettos for my ceremony and changing to flat sandals for the reception. If I saw these before, I would've been sold!

That's pretty cool. Can one even see your shoes when you're wearing your gown?

I've seen those shoes before and think it's such a neat idea!! I haven't checked them out though, but I would def. purchase them since I'd get a lot of use out of them.

For the first pair, I'd read every review and make sure that they're comfy. I'd also make sure they accept returns, and if you do purchase them, wear them around your home for a day to make sure they're actually comfortable during long periods of use.

One thing that comes to mind, if you start in a heel and change to a flat, your dress will be a bit long for the flat. Just something to keep in mind.

I saw the first pair of shoes that can be changed from heels t o flats and got excited but had the thought Noelle did with one way or another the length of my dress would be effected and either be too short or long. So I ended up going with flats that look similar to the second photo you shared, only in a different color.

Yeah I was think the shoe would be nice because I could wear it for more than one occasion since it can be a flat or a heel. I’m wearing flats with my dress 🙂

Those are pretty! Be aware that your will need to be altered for the flats so you don't trip on it.

Just be careful with alterations- most places alter so that the hem just clears the floor with shoes on, so depending on the height of the heels, a few inches could be dragging on the ground. Source: worked in bridal selling wedding gowns for three years

I ordered my flats off Etsy for $70. They are comfortable and the lace on the shoe almost matches the lace on my veil perfectly. There are so many cute wedding flats on Etsy.

Never heard of those but they would only work with a short dress. While there are lots of beautiful comfy dress flats, you need a decide on a height and have your dress altered accordingly. Otherwise your dress will drag and you will trip on it if you alter it for heels and switch to flats.

Personally, I don't see how a shoe could change from a flat to heel while still contouring to your foot correctly. The shape of your foot is not the same when you are standing flat footed vs when you are standing on your toes (as when wearing heels). I feel like those convertible flats/heels are gimmicks, and you could easily get two separate pairs of shoes for a lot less money.

Additionally, if you have a floor length dress it will be hemmed to a certain length and will end up being either too long or too short if you significantly change the heel height of your footwear. If you hem it to the height of your heels for the ceremony, it will then be too long when worn with flats and you'll risk stepping on your dress and ripping the fabric or worse, tripping over it and potentially hurting yourself. If hemmed to the height of your flats, it won't look right in heels. If hemmed to an intermediate length, you'll still have both problems (looks weird with heels, too long and a tripping hazard with flats). If you have an ankle length or shorter dress, then this won't matter and you can switch your footwear without issue.

Agree about the foot structure and support being completely different in each style. There is no way to switch from one to the other without damaging your feet at some point.
