We're doing it at Hampton inn, they have a private beach out back and a large tiiki which they rent out as long as you reserve a block of rooms Smiley smile

Oo! We are getting married in Key West! We don't have a waiting period so I plan to get it when we fly down the week of the wedding.

No waiting period? I think it might be the same for all Florida no? I read minimum 3 days maximum 30, but I was referring to after the wedding. You have to mail it in then wait for an official copy

Residents have a 3 day waiting period, non-residents have no waiting period to get the license. Dunno about when you get it back, etc. There have been a few FL brides on here, though, to let you know for sure. Or Jammer can come back and let us know.

The license is good for 60 days. License has 3 dates on it: issue date; effective date (for Fla. residents, 3 days after issue date); expiration date (60 days after issue date).

The license must be returned to the issuing courthouse within 10 days after the wedding. If you walk it in, they'll give you the certified copy/copies right then & there.

If you mail it back to the courthouse, it can take 2-3 weeks for them to mail the certified copy/copies to your home address (longer if they are busy -- sometimes as long as 6 weeks).

You can get the license at any Florida county courthouse & use it anywhere in the state (does not have to be same county). Cost is approx. $95.

Oh, and witnesses are not required although there is space on the certificate for 2 people to sign as witnesses.

It was about a week for us. We left for our H the next day after the wedding. We were gone for almost 7 days and then we got home. We got home on sunday, and the marriage license was in our mailbox the next day (Monday).

Nancy T thank you! That's great to know because our honeymoon is for 1 week but I took a few days off before and after and took off work a full 2 weeks. Which means I can take the license to the court house personally when we get back from our honeymoon and still be within the 10 days. If i can get copies right then and there that would be AWESOME as I could use those days to then take care of SS and RMV to do the name change.

I am confused, I went to get my license they gave me 2 copies one with a gold seal and one with the stamp seal, they told me I keep the gold seal and the officiant sends in the other one. They both have all the same information on them. So do I have to wait for them to send me another copy or is my copy the gold seal?
