First Time You Said "i love you."

Hannah, on November 9, 2020 at 1:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
Let's hear it! Telling your partner that you love them can be exciting, fun, scary, anxiety-provoking, and more. Let us know how you and your partner said those three magic words for the 1st time!

I'll start. We had been dating for 3 months at the time and went on vacation to a resort in the Dominican Republic. It was our 1st vacation together. I was nervous, so I said "I think I'm falling in love with you." because I didn't know how he would respond. He replied by telling me that he loves me. We now joke about how he is technically the 1 who said "I love you" first because I threw the extra "I think" in there.
What about you? When and how did you two say it?! ❤

For us he said it first. We were actually having an argument and I was really upset with him and at some point he comes out with a don't you realize how much I love you... I was shocked for a second and when I figured out I had actually heard him right I said it back. Needless to say the arugment ended quite quickly lol.

He said it first but I had wanted to say it for so long ! He had alluded to it weeks before he actually said it. In the weeks prior to him actually saying that he would say things like “I more than like you” and so that just made me know that it was going to come soon. And when the day came when he said it he was so nervous it was adorable

My husband told me first. We had been dating for about a month, but we talked about a month prior to us dating so we knew each other for two months at the time. We were just cuddling on the couch in his apartment when he said it.

I said it first, my son and his son were playing on the floor. We were cuddling on the bed. I looked up at him and it just kinda slipped out. He looked surprised( that I said it so random) but happy. I said did I scare he said “No I’m happy trust me”. He said he knows he’s going to say it back but I’m nervous. I told dont say it back yet just wait. I’m fine with that. He had been hurt ALOT by past relationships. One week later I was meeting his Mom for the first time. He asked if I wanted something to drink, went he got up to get it. He said Ok, I love you, in front of his mom. That was it!

I actually said it first and it freaked him out haha!! We had only been dating a few months and I dropped him off early one morning for a golf tournament. As he was getting out I said: "Bye have fun, be safe, I love you!" (keep in mind I say this to my close friends so it's second nature to say those words). The look on his face was priceless Smiley xd He didn't say a word and we both stared at each other in awkward silence while he closed the door and I sped off. I was so embarrassed because I did feel that way for him, but didn't want to say it just yet, and DEFINITELY not like that haha!

Later that day he texted me asking about it and if I meant to say it. I explained that it was natural for me to say that friends, but that I did care about and love him. I also let him know it was totally fine if he didn't want to say it back or felt the same way, but luckily he did! Smiley catface

We'd been dating a whopping total of 5 days, I'd known him a grand total of 19 days, we were out to dinner, in the back garden of a Mexican restaurant and the staff had stopped seating people around us and were leaving us strictly alone.

Me: so, uh, my dad said something that made me realize something, but he was right, and it's true

    DH: oh?

Me: I'm falling in love with you

    DH: ....me, too

...Someone write a movie about us, already.

Honestly, my husband and I told each other a week after we officially started dating. We had been bestfriends for 7 years before we even decided to take it to the next step, so the feelings were definitely already there but I was scared to possibly ruin our friendship so I kept holding back. Then one day we finally decided to try it out and that has been the best decision that we've ever made Smiley heart

I had known I loved him for about a month before I told him because I was scared of saying it too soon or making him feel rushed. But I realized it was ridiculous and I wanted him to know how I felt, even if he didn't necessarily feel the same way. We had a bet on the ending of our favorite tv show at the time. After I won, and rubbed it in, I told him. He was so nervous that he started rambling and telling stories. I wasn't sure he'd say it back but he finished with "I 110% love you more."
