First Look or Tradition

Carlin, on March 4, 2022 at 1:16 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 2 11
We’re kind of debating on doing a first look or keep it traditional where we don’t see each other til the ceremony? I don’t we’re kind of old school.

I did a first look because i just wanted to get the photos out of the way before the ceremony. if you feel that helps with your timeline logistically, then go for it! especially because some people don't have much time in between ceremony and reception for photos

We are very traditional too, however we ended up deciding to do a First Look for our upcoming wedding because our church has strict photography rules. It is likely his expression won’t be captured. Also, we are both introverted people and I’ve been reading that introverts found First Looks to be helpful for their nerves hahaha.

We are doing a first look. It logistically makes sense for us in our timeline to do all the pictures before, but also it will help with nerves. Plus then we have a bit of time after the ceremony to be with just eachother and eat something before the reception!

I agree with what everyone has said about first looks! We wanted to enjoy cocktail hour with our guests, so we took all of our photos before the ceremony. We're also introverts and it not only helped with our nerves but was so much fun to hang out with my husband and whole wedding party before the ceremony (we finished pictures early so we had time to relax all together). We were both plenty emotional during the ceremony so I don't feel like we missed that aspect of waiting to see each other.

We are keeping the tradition (fiancé wants to wait to see me walking down the aisle), but, as we want time for plenty of couples photos, we will be doing photos with our wedding party and families before the ceremony. We’ll then only need to do a few group photos after the ceremony, and our wedding party and families can head to cocktail hour (and save us some appetizers!) while we take couples photos. We also have plans to take some more photos (around sunset) after our cake cutting.

My husband didn’t want to see me until I walked down the isle. I was happy with that and didn’t push for a first look. Especially since he didn’t ask for much, and I know my husband. I wouldn’t have gotten a better/different response and I would have been disappointed with the pictures, lol.
There’s not right or wrong. Just what’s best you you guys. What does he want?

Depends on your time frame. I've seen it done both ways and honestly first look seems to make life easier. Pictures can take as long as they need and everyone looks their best right at the start. No need to rush around during cocktail hour trying to cram everything in.

My first wedding, I wanted the tradition of him first seeing me as I came down the aisle, but honestly I was in such a hurry to get to the reception that our pictures during cocktail hour sucked. This time around, we will be doing a first look followed by all the pictures, so after the ceremony we can just relax!

I don’t know we are considering it based on what everyone has stated yes we more photos of ourselves. I read that for some couples it lessens the emotions on the aisle. So I don’t know we’re still thinking of it

We are not doing a first look! We want to be surprised when I am walking down the isle. The pictures are important, but I think the tradition is more important and the pictures will be great no matter what because it's our wedding day. Smiley smile
