Hey, so for those of you who just got married, I would love to hear about how you’re celebrating your first Christmas as a married couple?

My husband and I will be baking Christmas cookies, cooking a delicious dinner, and watching Christmas movies! I also got him an ornament for our tree that honors our first Christmas as husband and wife, and will give it to him either on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We wanted to keep the holidays pretty low-key this year, since the entire year was crazy for us lol.

Sloane, how are you guys celebrating your first Christmas as a married couple?

I love the simplicity of your celebration!!! We are in the same mindset. We had so many big things going in this year. And we have decided to be somewhat low key with the exception of moving into our new house by Xmas day! We get our keys today. So excited. But even more excited to have a simple Xmas with our family in a new home full of boxes!!! Really when you get to this age. You realize Xmas is really about connection family and friends and peace.

So exciting that you got the keys to your new house!! Congratulations!! I totally agree, spending time with loved ones is the most important part of the holidays. I love your plan for Christmas!! Spending time with family in a house full of moving boxes is way better than a fancy holiday party with a bunch of people you barely know.

Exactly! It’s really about the people we hold dear. Although it takes some years and maturity to arrive at that conclusion. Thanks always for your well wishes.

Not newlyweds anymore (just had our second married Christmas), but one of my favorite Christmas traditions that we do is to collect ornaments from our travels throughout the year. Then, when we put up our tree, we reminisce about all of our traveling we’ve done together. It also helps to spur the conversation about the next year’s destinations.

We each had a fillable advent calendar that we had to fill for each other. My husband picked out things that didn’t fit in the drawers, so he put little riddles in the drawers that I had to follow to find the prize. I mostly picked things that fit, and mine were all over the place; candy, little soaps, a tiny turtle, a little tiny sculpture of his favorite Pokémon that I made myself, cool rocks from the gift shop at the nature center we got married at. 😂
