Fine hair, don't care

Danielle, on July 5, 2018 at 4:41 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 23

I have fine, medium length straight hair that doesn't hold a curl well. I plan on continuing to grow my hair for the next year to get it as long as possible for the wedding. For my high school prom I wanted a curly half up-do and it fell almost completely in about an hour. I am not too picky about my hair for my wedding but it would be nice to do something different than wear it straight like always. However, curly is my favorite and if there is any way to make it happen, that would be ideal. Does anyone know of any hairstyles that work well for fine hair?

Have you thought about extensions? I have the same problem and I'm putting clip in extensions (real human hair ones) they hold curls amazingly and my hair does better with them in (it's fine hair so what does fall is not very noticeable)

Where did you get yours from? I am concerned about it being difficult finding a blonde hair extension that looks natural.

You can maybe try adding some hair extensions or clip ins. I have this issue as well with my hair. You may just need to have the curls slipped until its picture time or whatever comes first. Also, you may just need to have touch ups throughout the night. I have also noticed that sometimes it holds and others it doesn't. That may depend on products, weather, etc. Ive never paid enough attention to figure our what makes it hold/fall but maybe you can to make it successful.

I have pretty fine, silk texture hair too! It generally doesn't hold a curl. I did 2 hair & makeup trials before booking. The first girl curled my hair and it fell out by the end of the appointment. The second girl curled in on a higher heat and used a strong hair spray. It held much longer! Granted, my hair won't hold a curl longer than a couple hours even with product & hair spray & backcombing but it was good enough for me! I'm also considering using extensions for volume.

Your hair stylist or a hair stylist can dye them to match your color. That might be the best option.

My hair is the same way! I'venever been able to curl it and it hold. But I talked to my stylist about a body wave perm and love it! It's loose curls and low maintenance. So, maybe just talk to your stylist to see what she recommends.

I likely have the exact same hair as you but brown lol. I was in a wedding a couple years ago and used clip in extensions and my hair held all night long!! I will likely do the same thing for my wedding in May although I am also toying with the idea of having it up. Unfortunately the clip ins in the pic were borrowed from a friend so I am not sure where they came from. (I’m the one in the middle)

I got them from Sally's and your stylist should be able to dye them if they don't match just make sure to get human hair not synthetic and you will be good to go! These are the ones I got https://www.sallybeauty.com/hair/hair-extensions/clip-in-18-inch-human-hair-extensions/EURNXT02.html?list=Home%7CHair%7CHair%20Extensions#start=1

*Sign up for their emails and they will occasionally send coupons that's when I would order them.

My hair is very fine and thin as well, but you can do almost any style! You just need a ton of Bobby pins and hair spray. I would really recommend getting your hair done!

Same exact type of hair. My stylist used sea salt spray to hold the curls in my last trial...they lasted for two days!! I will also be wearing extensions

I have heavy hair that also can't hold curls. Something that worked for me was Redkins was hair spray. I sprayed my hair with regular hairspray, curled it, sprayed some wax spray on it while it was curling and then sprayed the wax spray all over it after the curling iron was out. It held all day. It was amazing.

Fine hair here, as well. I showed my stylist some half-up curly styles that I liked, and told her that she can do whatever is as close to that as is possible with my hair. She said OK no problem. I have been going to her for years so I trust her, and she always makes my hair look amazing. I will ask her about extensions and see what she thinks ... that's an option I've considered too.

Try donna bella hair extensions. I have both tape in and clip ins and they are amazing. I lost all of my hair due to Alopecia and what grew back is very frizzy and thin. The extensions are a huge help...I'm in the blue dress.

    X2☝🏻

I have fine hair that doesn’t like to hold a curl as well. My stylist suggested that I go with extensions from Sally’s and when I get the chance, bring them to her to be colored. To achieve the style I chose, I wanted a fuller look - the fact that they’re actually going to hold a curl longer than half an hour is just a bonus!

Did you hairspray your hair before you trained curling it? I use freeze frame, I think by Got2Be and it works great in my hair. My mom also uses it and it works good in her hair also.

Same issue here. I've been told that getting highlights will help "rough up" my hair, and I'm contemplating a bodywave but I'm scared. LOL!! Mine fell out even with extensions.

The curl, that is. Not the hair. 😆

My previous experiences with chemical curling or lightening resulted in my already fine hair getting SO fragile I was afraid to brush, curl or blow-dry it. It's been years though so maybe they have more gentle solutions now.

I will say that when I was coloring my hair with henna - pure henna powder mixed with lemon juice, not the henna dyes in a box - it was healthy, thicker, and curled. It was gorgeous. I got tired of the maintenance though. I'm far too lazy to dye my roots on an ongoing basis. The problem with henna is it's VERY permanent. It's fabulous as long as you love it - it doesn't fade. But you can't dye over it, and it's very tricky to bleach or strip out. My stylist had to process me 3 times and my hair was cobweb-fragile for months. I knew that going into it, so I just babied it until it grew out. It was a beautiful shade of vibrant red and i do miss it but my coloring doesn't work as well with red as it does my natural ash blonde and I wouldn't go back.

But if you ever want to make a long-term commitment to red, auburn or strawberry hair, I would totally recommend it! The texture and color was so much better than with chemical dyes.
