February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!!

Victorian Bride, on October 24, 2021 at 1:17 PM Posted in Planning 6 237
Hi! We were able to reschedule for February. Our date is 02/02/2022. I pray we finally have our dream wedding. We are now eloping to Jamaica and doing everything at the beautiful Sandals Royal Plantation resort. I didn't want a beach wedding because it doesn't fit our theme and my gown is not sand appropriate ( I can see my train just dragging sand with it like a wake on a boat. Lol!). We will marry in a Victorian style Gazebo that is on a terrace that juts out towards the ocean. Our theme is Victorian, obviously. My gown is a very full pale blush ballgown in a shade named pink champagne. Since we are now going to Jamaica, we went with real touch flowers instead of real. I'll attach our color palette. I've attached pics of my gown, our venue, color palette, custom invitations, my day of wedding purse, my Groom's attire, our cake topper ( we now have two other fur babies, but the topper people are closed), my day of makeup look, and I can't remember what else. I'm recovering from covid if I'm a bit slow on replies. I just wanted you to know you aren't being ignored. I'm still sleeping about 16 hours a day.

What is your theme? Where are you getting married? Have you had to reschedule? What are your colors? What do plan on having your bouquet and boutonnière's look like? I'd love to see gown pics if anyone is willing to share. At this point my gown is no longer top secret. ha ha How are you wearing your hair? Please share anything you wish.
We are all getting close to that 90 day mark and I'm getting nervous. I still have my veil to finish. So much was put on the back burner with us having to reschedule and then my having a severe case of covid. I look forward to meeting each of you. 🥰❤

Hi Michelle! Which resort? Ours is in Ochios Rios, too. I've heard we'll not want to leave. Did you all have a Butler suite? I've heard they really spoil you. Thank you so much! We can't wait!! ❤

It was awesome! We had the butler suite & they definitely spoiled us! We left a $100 tip when we left. We did 1 excursion off the resort (The Blue Whole) & had a blast! Another day, we took a taxi to the center of town to do some shopping. One thing I noticed is the chocolate there isn’t sweet- reminded me of dark chocolate. But the food was delicious! After the craziness of wedding planning & being around so many people, just being alone was Heaven! Poolside or on the beach- your butler made sure we had everything we wanted.

How lovely! I love your colours especially - they're somewhat similar to ours! Peaches, pinks, ivories and creams. From some angles your ceremony spot looks like a tree house, it's gorgeous!

We have had to reschedule from September of this year to 26th Feb next year.

We are getting married at a beautiful vineyard and restaurant in the Southern Highlands of NSW:

    Inside -

    outside -

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 14

    our florals:

February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 15I am wearing a big, voluminous plain mikado silk ballgown dress with sleeves and a square neckline. My fiance will be wearing a very dark navy tux with a peachy pink bowtie.

My two bridesmaids will be in these dresses:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 16

My dress also has sleeves. Originally I was VERY worried about us being too cold as September is still very early spring here and quite chilly, but having now moved to late summer, I'm really worried we will all be far too hot. I'm just hoping with the adrenaline that we barely notice!

Oh Rosie!! I love everything you have planned for your wedding. Gorgeous venue. Vineyards are so romantic in my opinion. Beautiful florals. Great bridesmaids dresses. Our colours are almost exact. Great minds think alike!! ❤😊 Would you consider having a seamstress make short sleeves for your gown? I worry about you being too warm, too! I will look forward to your wedding photos. What are you doing for your hair and makeup? Are you wearing a veil? Thank you for sharing your fabulous pics. We won't choose our cake flavor until we arrive. Have you chosen yours? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just very interested in what you all have planned. Yes, from that one angle, our Gazebo does remind one of a tree house. I'd never noticed before. We've even included drone video because I think it'll make a spectacular wedding video. We are concerned about being too warm as well. Again, thanks for sharing. xx

Well, I'm very lucky (and/or unlucky depending on your point of view, haha!) the dress didn't originally have sleeves - this is it, but i'm filling it out into a ballgame shape with a LOT more tulle underneath:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 17

so as you can see it didn't have sleeves originally, but I am always cold and it is in the highlands where it tends to get very cool in the evenings (even in summer it won't be boiling once the sun goes down), hence asking the sleeves to be put on - so I could always ask my poor, long suffering alterations lady to remove them again or shorten them, it would just add to the alteration costs, which is fine. I do feel bad for her though! I'm leaving it til closer to the time to decide, because we're apparently going to have a cool, wet summer here so I'm keen not to jump too soon.

And definitely great minds! Peachy pink is my favourite, haha! I'm actually having my seamstress put peachy-pink tulle underneath my skirt, so if I lift it you'll just get a hint, kind of like this, but more neutral-pink:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 18

For hair, I would like a very simple, sleek chignon type look like this - but with pearl pins scattered through it:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 19

makeup, I'd like a peachy matte shadow with winged liner - this is my inspo, just a little less shimmery on the lids:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 20

Veil wise, I want a very filmy, dramatic veil like this one:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 21

will you wear a veil at all? I love them, but I haven't been to any weddings where the bride has worn one over her face like I plan to - I'd just like the very first person to see my unveiled face in all it's glory (lol!) to be my husband to be!

We have picked a cake! And it sounds SO boring. We wanted a hummingbird cake (which is like a carrot, spice and pineapple cake, often with walnuts in it) because my favourite cake is carrot, and my fiance loves pineapple, but no one really makes them here. We found a woman who would, but to be honest, her banana cake was her best one, so we're having a layer of that, plus a layer of white cake with strawberry in it, so it's kind of marbled pink and white. It does sound a bit basic but it was so delicious. Have you been given an idea of what cakes they might have, or a menu at least? or is it a full-on surprise?

I think your drone sounds so exciting! It sounds like it's going to be such a beautiful day.

Aww, thank you! It is just the top - a sort of jersey knit top and jacquard skirt. It would have been perfect for our original time of year and I'm irritated we had to move from that perspective. I hope my poor lovely bridesmaids don't roast, but I did offer to change their dresses (I paid for them and would have paid for a new one if they'd wanted) and they said they were ok not to.

That's really nice and understanding of them Smiley smile It's always going to be cooler up in the highlands though so hopefully they will be fine. I wore a veil over my face into the church as well and got it lifted by my husband. Smiley smile Your veil, hair ideas and dress all look beautiful Smiley smile

I am extremely excited, but since I'm recovering from the Delta variant of the Corona virus, I'm getting worried. I've so much left to do and it seems like I'm having to wait until the last minute. When is your wedding? I'd love to hear your plans.

I, too, am always cold. February is our coldest month and I am thrilled we are going to a warm climate. We had to postpone several times due to family emergencies, illness, and covid. Originally, we had a Spring wedding planned, and while still a little cool, I would have survived. ha ha

Peachy-pink, or salmon, is my absolute favourite color!! I'm a dark strawberry blonde and it compliments my coloring so well.

Your gown is beautiful!! Oh! I can't wait to see your bridal photos. Are you doing a bridal shoot? I love the idea of the blush tulle in the underskirt. I'd copy it, as I adore that idea. Since my gown is already pale blush and so extremely heavy ( about 70 lbs and then I am flying to Jamaica with it in tow), I'm not doing anything else to it. I did not want a strapless gown. I wanted the bodice totally reworked for me to have short, puffy sleeves, but my seamstress will not have time, now. So I have to get on board with it being strapless.
I plan on wearing my hair in an 1800's updo. This is my inspiration pic:
    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 22
Yes, DEFINITELY wearing a veil. I'm a custom milliner and one of my specialties is veils. I'm wearing a blusher as well. My veil is a very pale blush. I've only beaded the blusher so far. I'll take a pic of it and post later. It's wrinkled from being stored. I'm so concerned I won't finish it in time, due to my long recovery. My main inspiration for my veil is the fabulous 80's veil worn by Princess Diana. My other inspiration is Maria's veil from THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

I want my veil to look very similar to this one from the side. I call it Maria's veil.
    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 27
My veil with the blusher is 14 ft in length and 10 ft wide. Giving those numbers makes me more nervous about finishing. 😂😂 Yes, I agree. I'll wear the blusher until my groom lifts it. I hope to wear it over my face throughout the ceremony, but with the wind that may not be a good idea. I guess I'll decide when I get to our resort. The only drawback to eloping is it'll be just the two of us (no place for us to get ready apart). While I've been able to keep my gown a secret from him (he thinks it's white or ivory), I'm afraid once we get to our couples only resort, I'm going to have to let it hang in our room after it's steamed. So he'll get ready first and I'll send him off to a lounge, or pub, and then I'll begin getting ready. We had wanted to spend the night before our wedding apart, but it's not possible.
Hummingbird cake is one of my favourites, too! I think your cake sounds delicious. It'll be lovely when cut into as well. Oh! We are having a huge black tie reception in the fall of 2022, just fyi. We wanted to celebrate with all of our friends and family. It will be a bit sad as I've recently lost my father. The resort has a Jamacian Fruitcake, sounds interesting, and we'll taste them either the day we arrive or the next day. Not quite sure yet. The other flavors are basic. Carrot cake is one of my favs, too, ( we like many of the same things, have you noticed?❤), but in Jamaica they do not put nuts. So I don't want it. The rest are chocolate, vanilla, and lemon. My fiancé was recently diagnosed with diabetes so I'm not sure how that will impact our cake. We were also planning on bringing pink champagne with us, but I can have it, but not too sure about him. It just depends on how well his diabetes is by the time of our wedding. We can at least have it in a few toasting photos, if nothing else.
What are you doing for your nails?

Haha, we sound very similar, I also didn't want strapless, and Maria's whole wedding look is my vibe! Your veil sounds absolutely stunning and I can't wait to see pictures.

If you wanted to include pink under skirts but won't have time, you could always buy some separate full-length petticoats to put on underneath! I wanted my skirt to be absolutely HUGE - even when I bought it I had two hoop skirts underneath, and you can get them in colours, so that might be a solution for you as a fellow pink lover!

Your plans to get ready sound very sensible, and will definitely preserve just a bit of mystery for your groom!

For nails I am thinking a very neutral, peachy pink, and maybe little gold hearts or my fiance's initials. Like this:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 28

or possibly a contrasting french tip in pink or gold:

    February 2022 Brides and Grooms....let's chat!! 29

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.
