Father daughter dance

Tammy, on February 15, 2024 at 8:06 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Is it weird I asked my sister to step in for my deceased father for the father daughter dance?

Not at all weird, and very nice! Sorry for the loss of your father.

It may be clearer what is happening if it is announced that this is the father-daughter dance being done in honor of him.

You can dance with whomever you like and that can be meaningful to you for this or whatever reason you like. Personally I wouldn’t make any public announcement about it being in lieu of the father-daughter dance. I’m just not a big fan of memorials at weddings, which are supposed to be happy occasions.

So, weird, no. Potentially sad for others, possibly.

Both my and my fiance's moms passed away and he's going to have his sister dance with him and we're planning to have our aunts walk down the aisle in their honor.

My wife also does not have a father and we asked her uncle, anything is possible, the main thing is that he is a good person for you.

I've seen many versions of this family dance as families look all different. You don't have to dance in memory of someone and make an announcment. You can dance to honor the loved one(s) in front of you. If you would like to mention your dad, you can name him in your program or mention him in your reception speech. Best wishes.

No, for my step mom and dad’s wedding. Her son danced with her and I danced with my dad.
