Farmhouse tables pushed together or separated?

My vote is two rows of 3 tables

As a guest, I would prefer sitting at separate smaller tables rather than longer combined tables. Thinking back to the school lunch room, it can get quite overwhelming to be seated in such close proximity to so many people. Having a bit of separation between tables helps me focus on the people around me and allows me to hear what is being said without being distracted. It would also be easier to get in and out from shorter benches since 1/2 of the people would be seated on the ends and can slide out rather than in the middle and having to climb over.



On the other hand, some people appreciate talking to many different guests at the reception. Long tables means guests can interact with a larger group than just the 7 other people seated at their table.

Completely misread the part about seats and benches. Disregarded that part of my previous comment!

If we were doing benches (which I would try to avoid at all costs) I definitely wouldn't even consider pushing them together. It's one thing to have to scoot past your SO, but its another to be trying to do acrobatics in fancy clothes to avoid inconveniencing a bunch of other people. Totally agreed with you on that part!

I vote for six separate tables! As a guest, I like how simple it is to pick out which one I'm at, and smaller tables, and less people per table, means I get to have more time and attention dedicated to those sitting with me. I tend to find that sitting with a large amount of people to be a little overwhelming!

I also feel like the decision depends on your space. Is there room to do the 6 separate tables and there still feel like there's enough room for dancing and moving around? If so, then def. do the 6 tables!

Hmm I think it would depend on who all you're inviting - like having two 8-foot tables pushed together would be great if everyone knew each other but kind of awkward if you sat in the middle and didn't know many people around you.
