Fake vs. Real Flowers?

FutureMrs.C, on January 29, 2019 at 1:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Hi! I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on this. I know that it's a personal taste thing, but I'm not entirely sure what people think/if people even notice these kinds of things. I'm pretty on the fence myself! Have you been to weddings that used primarily fake flowers? Are you planning on using them? Pros of just going with a florist? I'd love to hear opinions!

I can't afford real flowers so I'm using fake flowers and I personally still think they look great and I got them super cheap. I've been to a couple weddings and they all used fake flowers and I didn't think anything of it. I thought they were still beautiful!

I'm planning on creating my centerpieces with fake flowers to save costs and so that I can make them well in advance. We're not having a traditional bridal party so I don't have as many bouquets and boutonnieres as a more traditional bride, but I plan to make my own bouquet as well as the boutonnieres and corsages for the family. I think it's perfectly okay to do a mix of both. I just can't bring myself to hold a bouquet with fake flowers.

Honestly if I have been to a wedding with fake flowers I didn't notice.
The only one I know of is the last where my FH was a GM, they had cute crocheted flowers for the boutonniere and a single one for the bridesmaids to hold.
My wedding party flowers are sola wood and the centerpiece flowers will be fresh because they were included in our package.

I've noticed every fake flower at every wedding I have been to. However, I love flowers. It's something I will notice.

If it isn't something you care about, don't spend the money on it, but some guests will notice.

I went to my first wedding that used fake flowers last year. It might've been the way they handled them (throwing them on the table after they were done using them and it was obvious) but I noticed right away. I wouldn't worry about it though. If you don't want to spend a whole lot of money on flowers, don't feel obligated to!

I've been to plenty that used fake flowers. I don't think most people would notice, and I probably wouldn't have if I hadn't been in the weddings! I'm using a mix of wooden and paper flowers. I think one pro of using a florist would be less time that you have to spend figuring out how to put your bouquets together. I need a ton of bouquets/corsages/boutonnieres, so it's gonna be time consuming getting them all made DIY style. If you use a florist, that will all be done for you.

I love flowers so I would notice. However, I think there is a big difference between the "real touch" fake flowers and dollar tree flowers.

For me, fresh flowers were a priority. I have noticed the fake flowers at weddings I've been to. That doesn't mean they looked bad, but I did notice.

I agree with Easrias, the "real touch" kind (which are pricey) and super cheap DT flowers are totally different.

I’m doing diy real flowers because I found them to be cheaper than fake flowers and MUCH cheaper than a florist. I’m going through flower moxie. They give you recipes for exactly how many flowers go into each arrangement so you don’t really have to be amazing at diy to pull it off.

For awhile I was going back and forth between using real or fake flowers. I decided I wanted to use real flowers because I just love them too much. Sometimes fake flowers can cost just as much as real flowers if not even more so be careful. If you are concerned about price you can look into Costco for real flowers or even check out your local farms.

I actually found that my real flowers were cheaper than fake ones when using Costco and Fifty Flowers. Which is a fantastic thing because I prefer real flowers. I think after all is said and done I’m getting 200 white roses, 200 burgundy carnations, 100 stems of eucalyptus, 9 bridesmaid bouquets and a a 20 foot garland of eucalyptus for around $650.

I am using fake flowers, I think they are just as pretty! Most guests won’t notice anyways.

I personally don’t see the harm in having fake flowers. Especially when you have a budget.
