Everything is going wrong

Liz, on July 15, 2021 at 10:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
I need to vent and maybe get some suggestions on how to move forward. We are exactly 30 days out from our date.

2 weeks ago I was supposed to have my HMU trial, but the day before, we find out my 10 year old picked up lice somewhere and had to cancel my appointment for safety reasons. Now I'm terrified I won't get to have this trial prior to our date, and she won't be able to get her hair done because she'll still have it because I'm having a hard time getting rid of them.
So I am super late on getting alterations done on my dress and was supposed to do it yesterday. Guess who came down with COVID and now can't get alterations done.
Wedding license appointment is also within my mandatory quarantine time and they don't have appointments after my quarantine and prior to my date.
What am I going to do???

Oh no I am so sorry this is happening to you. Are they allowed to do it virtually? That's what my husband and I did for our marriage license, we did it over zoom. Do you have lice as well? If not at least you should be able to get your hair done.

I've got emails in for a Zoom appt and hopefully they'll accept it. As of right now I don't have lice but I have found a few on my shirts after I go through my daughter's hair, so I'm worried I may pick it up between now and then.

I'm sorry idky I was thinking your niece had lice not your 10 year old. Hopefully they will accept the zoom appointment, I feel like that is the most important thing right now since you actually need that to legally be married. Does it normally take awhile for lice to go away? (I have no idea how lice works)

Oh wow, that's a lot to deal with. I am so sorry you got COVID! I hope your vaccination is at least ensuring you have a mild case (but I know that doesn't help you right now with the quarantine and everything).

I agree with Yasmine that I would put your energy into getting your license (and I hope your local registrar will accommodate you virtually) since not having a license would be an actual dealbreaker, whereas not having a hair trial would just be a disappointment.

At this point, you can't let yourself worry about everything, so I would cancel your daughter's hair appointment and just keep yours. Even if you do get lice, you should be able to have it eradicated by your wedding day, whereas it's much harder in children, I think. Also, maybe look into one of those services to take care of the lice treatments for you. However much that costs, it will be worth it for your peace of mind!

So as far as lice advice, my daughter picked them up from daycare and she has super kinky curly hair. we did the over the counter treatments and nothing was working. Someone told me to take her to the pediatrician and he prescribed something called Splice and within two days i had them all dead and gone! The doctor told me that they cant live off the scalp but to be safe i still put all our bedding, pillows, etc any where the head may touch into the dryer on high heat for two cycles. If that is an option for you I would definitely try that!
