Ever been to Napa Valley and/or Hawaii?

Sarah, on March 20, 2012 at 10:05 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Hi ladies. Has anyone ever been to Napa in Cali and/or Hawaii? We are thinking of doing both for our Honeymoon and have never been to either. We are huge "winos" so want to spend a couple days in wine country and then to Hawaii for the Beach, etc. We dont know where in Hawaii is the best place to go for a Honeymoon. Any suggestions for cities, resorts, etc? Thanks!

First will comment on Napa. Its beautiful. I was raised in SF and my last 5 years were in Sonoma County, right near Napa. You can't go wrong. There are a bunch of B and B's and that time of year its still pretty warm, although they have had a pretty warm winter.

We are HM at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui. Got a great package through Costco. $2500 for 7 nights ocean view, Breakfast each day, Luau, $200 resort credit, convertible car, Dinner Show or Sunset Dinner Cruise, and two for one massage. We will already be there for our wedding so this didn't include air but family that we have coming for the wedding are getting the best deals out of Oakland.

    Good luck.

I've been to both Napa and Hawaii. My FH's work has been sending him out to San Francisco the past couple of years for months at a time, so we've taken quite a few trips out to Wine Country. Honestly, I like Sonoma Country better than Napa. If you make it out that way, be sure to spend at least a day in Healdsburg. A lot of the vineyards in the area have set up tasting rooms in the center of town, so you can walk from tasting room to tasting room (a lot of them offer free tastings). There is an adorable B&B there called Healdsburg Inn. There's also a really cute one that we've stayed at about 15 minutes away from there called Windrose Romantic Cottages. One of my other favorite towns in Wine Country is Calistoga. There's so much that you can do in that area. You can just go wine tasting, you can go on a wine train, hot air ballooning, bicycle wine tours, etc.

Hawaii is also very nice, but it's very different from Wine Country. You can't go wrong with either choice.

I've never been to Hawaii but I went on a girls' trip to Sonoma a few years ago. Absolutely fabulous. We were there in August and the weather was outstanding. We went to Beringer and several others. Jordan and Darioush wineries were my absolute favorites and a little off the beaten path. One of my friends worked as a sommelier back then so we got to stay on the grounds at Jordan - I don't know if you can buy that, but it would be worth every penny if you can. It's smaller and much less traffic than the big names like Beringer etc. Jordan's olive oil is UNBELIEVABLE. And the Darioush Viognier is OMG. Smiley smile

We flew in and out of San Francisco so we got to spend a day downing clam chowder and beer after we couldn't drink any more wine. It was perfect!

    You'll have an awesome time!!!!

We were in Napa last summer. I would suggest the wine train because otherwise I felt it was really confusing as far as figuring out the times the vineyard were open and where in the heck we were driving. Have fun!

Maui has a winery which is small...but so yummy and nice! They make their wine out of pineapples! If you want to stick to the whole wine thing and you're planning on doing both, I'd most definitely tell you to go to Maui...it's hands down my favorite island.

    Hi there!

I am getting married the day after you (on a side note), and work at a winery in Napa Valley www.cuvaison.com. Napa and Sonoma counties are simply beautiful and interesting and filled with countless aweome food and wine options.

www.napavalley.com is a fantastic resource for stuff to do and check out in Napa. Sonomacounty.com is also a great online resource as well.

There are close to 1000 individual wine producers within Napa Valley and many many options of places to taste at. Most wineries that have actual tasting locations, are open 7 days a week, from about 10 am - 5pm.

If you like bubbly, definitely check out Domaine Carneros and Mumm. I prefer Domaine Carneros. Of course, you are welcome to come check out Cuvaison too which is across the street from Domaine Carneros.

I'd be happy to coordinate a complimentary tasting. Just give me a date and rough time and I can schedule you for a seated tasting at our Carneros location in Napa.
