Ever been "ghosted" by a venue?

Becca, on December 12, 2018 at 1:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 22

My fiance and I had a venue picked and were waiting on final details before signing the contract because we were going back and forth on open bar pricing. Other than that, all was good at the venue. The lady we were working with started off seeming really nice and very cooperative! We gave her what we thought was a fair price for open bar (she left it open ended and asked us to give her a number to work with). She said she would take that number to the caterer and get back to us. She came back days later with a consumption bar offer ending with a cash bar...even though she told us we can do open bar. When we added a few more bucks per person to try and continue with an open bar, she said she would get back to us again....and then we never heard from her again...we have called and emailed several times and no response.....making us have to start over again with the venue search and we also lost our wedding date since no where else offered the date we wanted.....anyone deal with this? Or even a vendor that just sort of ditched out of no where?

I just had a vendor email me back FOUR MONTHS LATER. I literally just laughed out loud when I saw them reply. Like, why even bother at this point? It’s just so rude. If you don’t want my money just say so! It’s so frustrating.

My fiance really just wants to troll her at this point haha not in a mean way, but at this point, if she responds weeks later with some kind of answer, he really just wants to mess with her haha

We were going to send something to her because its terrible that she does this to people, but we figured it wasn't worth our time. We should have know though after reading a review (from a DJ) about how aweful it was to work with her.

When I was searching for a DJ one of the DJs that I spoke to and really liked did something similar. I emailed him telling him I would love to hire him and he didn't respond so I called once and never heard back so I moved on and hired another DJ (and so glad I did). He randomly responded to my email three months later saying "great, I'm so excited here's my contract for you to sign!"......no.

I got ghosted when I was setting up a venue tour! I was going back and forth with the contact at this one hotel and he never confirmed the date and time I proposed for our tour. I had to followup with him after about a week which was kind of annoying. We finally ended up doing the tour and it was our least favorite venue of the day! Lol. You probably dodged a bullet! I'm thinking I definitely dodged a bullet! Haha the package included basically everything, which is why we were drawn to it, and the prices were very fair. The venue itself though wasn't my favorite...it was basically a giant gym with a stage. It all depends on how you decorate it, but the manager there was the final straw with them.

Oh yeah you're better off lol. That kind of happened to me too. The venue we ALMOST picked was nice but I wasn't the biggest fan of the layout. I was going to try to convince myself to get over it because it was all inclusive but the contact didn't even follow up with us like she said she would after the venue tour! It will all work out. Smiley smile

Yesss!! And that goes for other folks who don’t respond as well. Like I get it, I’ve probably done it too. But these are time sensitive things.

We won a free engagement shot. So we were going to do a tela conference with the guy to discuss times and so on. Three times he forgot we texted him like hey what is going on. He always said something ran behind. We are not going with him.

Ugh that sucks that you guys had to miss out on a potential free shoot Smiley sad at least you didn’t lose any money in the process! That photographer definitely sounds extremely unprofessional

I have venues who haven’t responded to inquiries I’ve sent them looking for info.

Makes it easy for me to scratch them off the list of possibilities altogether then - if they won’t respond now, imagine how horrible they will be to deal with after they have my money?

Honestly though, so irritating. It’s their loss - their lack of response is potentially costing them thousands of our dollars. Who can run a profitable business with such poor service?!

I had a couple that haven’t responded to inquiries as well. I’m also guilty of not responding sometimes when they responded to me with the requested info....only because their prices were so outrageously high that I would have had nothing nice to say haha but it’s so annoying when it’s a venue (or a vendor) that you are basically ready to sign your wallet away to and then they just ditch

I am going through this right now! This was our top venue and their communication is totally janky, so we're considering cutting this venue off the list.... but our date is booked for everywhere else since it's 6 months out! I have been communicating with her for 5 months on and off, and am getting nowhere with booking/paying our deposit/securing our venue. This is so nerve wrecking; I feel your pain girlfriend.

You’ve been talking on and off for 5 months and they still haven’t confirmed or booked anything for you??? I know it’s your top place, but I don’t think having an unconfirmed venue is something you really want to risk Smiley sad maybe if the venue is nearby, try showing up and demanding to speak with someone. If not, you may wanna start looking elsewhere Smiley sad

I’ve had Florist’s do it! Literally the one I was about to write a check to! She wanted me to mail so I reached out one more time to see if we could meet up and ask about the contract and she never responded. Well, I never mailed the check.
The other one promised multiple times to look over my proposal and get back to me. Never did. Finally emailed a couple of weeks ago 3 months later, asking if I ever got a florist or if i was still need to book her! Ha! I sent her back a “lovely” email.
Ive also had venues respond months later to my initial request asking if I’m still looking for a venue. Umm my wedding is in 5 months(at the time) no I don’t need your venue any more. They didn’t like my response either.
If they can’t get back to you, they don’t deserve your business, you’ll find your perfect venue!!

Unfortunately I'm out of state so I can't pull up on them. You can only make a deposit over the phone after the approve the application, but they never answered as to if they had approved it or not and that was sent in last week! I leave voicemails, emails, and all but it seems they're so busy with other events (around July 4th and Thanksgiving/Christmas) since it's an art museum...I don't wanna lose our date, since we're renewing vows and I want it to be on our exact date. I'm going to give her until the end of this week to respond, I've already called all the other places in our budget and they're booked. Smiley sad I am so torn!

So after hours of research, I compiled a new list with venues (for no reason...because my vendor called me back) and we are booked for the "ghost venue." It turned out great because it ended up being the cheapest venue upfront with the lowest deposit and fees. I'm glad I was persistent!

I have yes. When they got back to us they were very rude. We told them we wouldn't need their additude or service and found a better place
