Enjoy your Marriage!

Tamika, on August 20, 2020 at 6:51 AM Posted in Married Life 4 18
Hello everyone! We have been married for 10 months now :-) Take your time and enjoy every minute of it. Any advice that I could give is: Pay off everything!!! No payments on rings for 4-12 years, no payments on Credit Cards or Vendors. In my opinion we had the most powerful, beautiful and heartfelt wedding. A wedding is not about the ring, location and the guest receiving hard and free liquor..... Did your family and friends feel the love? Listen to the words and loved being in your presence turning it up at the celebration if the reception?

I was stressed out, gained weight for no reason.. Till this day. Everyone still talks about October 19 2019. Even my Husband and I... Did I mention we was debt-free the day of our wedding. We are still debt free, moreover, our major bills are paid up for some months during this Covid. Please don't stress yourself out and be happy 🤗
Love,
Mrs. Pitts

I won't be married until 7 weeks but I completely agree. My fiance and I promised that we wouldn't take out any loans, use our credit cards, or anything as such for our wedding. If we can't pay cash for it we don't need it!

Great advice! My fiance and I agreed when we got engaged that we will not take out loans or borrow from anyone to pay for our wedding, and it's worked out so well for us. It makes everything much less stressful. Congratulations on being debt-free, and happy 10-month anniversary!

Well said, Mrs. Pitts! Too many people fall into the wedding industry's trap of trying to have an elaborate wedding. The national average cost of a wedding in 2019 was $33,900. So many of my loved ones told me that they regret going into debt and that they would have a courthouse wedding if they could do it all over again.

I met one gentleman while vacationing in London who told me that he spent £30,000 in 2015 and that they divorced two years later and he's still paying off his wedding!!!! 😨

I heard that a lot too Raquel. A lot of my Nurses told me to go to the Courthouse but we still did pretty good with paying $12,000 and that was with 55 guests, gifts given all over, photobooth, limo, DJ and bar. I think we did pretty good.

Congratulations! And yes, I absolutely agree. The best thing is to have the wedding you can afford. A lavish celebration does not automatically equal a long and healthy marriage. If you can afford and want to spend whatever amount, there is nothing wrong with that. But starting a marriage with debt from an optional party is setting you up for extra stressors.
