Engagement Ring while Sleeping

Emily, on January 31, 2018 at 9:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 181

Ladies question...do you wear your engagement ring to bed? I heard you shouldn't. Something about the 5 S of not wearing an engagement ring...shower, shore, sleep, don't know the other 2.

What do you all do?

I take mine off when I wash my hands, take a shower, work out and when I sleep. I don't want to scratch FI in the middle of the night with the ring so it goes in the ring box on my nightstand.

I honestly never take mine off unless I'm mixing meat or at the gym. I feel I would have a better chance to loose it if I constantly took it off and put it back on throughout the day.

These 5 S's sound like a load of crap. The only issue I see wearing it to bed is it might be uncomfortable for the first few weeks, and people say to watch out for the prongs snagging on the sheets and ripping it off.... i honestly don't see this happening. I wear mine to bed all the time with no problems. I don't wear it for the beach, international vacations, cooking, washing dishes, gardening, mowing the lawn.... (only 1 has an S beach=shore). It will get gunky so just keep jewelry cleaner on hand and get it checked out regularly like you should.

I don't wear mine in the shower or to sleep. I don't really work out but if I did I wouldn't wear it to the gym. Probably "Sweat" is the other. Also Soap. I know some people take them off to do heavy cleaning or when using bleach, etc. (Totally guessing here, no idea really. But it makes sense)

When I first got my ring, I used to take it off at night and put it in its box, on my dresser next to my bed. Now I wear it to bed. Mine has an antique setting, and isn't as pronounced as some more modern styles though.

I take it off when I shower or wash my hands, when I'm cooking (I wash my hands a lot while cooking) and when I'm cleaning. I have a little ring dish for it next to the microwave and away from the sink.

No, it's not good for you to sleep with your rings on, they can affect your blood circulation at night. Plus if you move around a lot, you can bang it on your headboard or nightstand, scratch your face, tear your sheets, etc...

I take my rings off every day as soon as I get home from work, and so does my H. I don't cook, clean, shower, or sleep with them on. And if I ever got my butt to a gym, I wouldn't wear them there either lol.

I don’t wear mine when I sleep because the prongs get snagged in blankets

I wear mine to sleep with no issues. The only times I take mine off are to shower, cook, wash dishes, cleaning (with chemicals, not simple dusting), gardening, and when I put lotion on (though they go right back on as soon as it dries).

Never heard of the 5 S rule.

My ring is the first thing to come off when I get home, and the last thing to go on when I leave. Also, I usually don’t wear it to work but that’s mainly because I work in a hospital laboratory and deal with harsh chemicals.

I don't sleep with mine, I take mine off when I wash my hands, shower, go to the gym, clean or anything that has to do with me getting something on my ring.

I never wear my ring when I shower or sleep, I toss and turn and have accidentally hit FW in my sleep before. I have a silicone ring that I wear to the gym and wear to work on days that I have to stock.

I take mine off when,I go to bed, because I'm afraid the sharp points of the square might scratch me or FH. My setting is also pretty high off my finger. I have 3 matching ring bowls at home - kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. I never wear it to clean with heavy duty cleaners, or to cook/wash dishes.

I take mine off when I get home. I have a ring holder and that’s the only place I will set it down. That way I know I won’t lose it. I only put it on when I leave to go somewhere. If I’m being active or going to the gym I’ll leave it at home. I don’t like to wear jewelry when I’m relaxing.
