Engagement Ring is tight after Resize

Hi All- I need advice. My engagement ring was originally a 5.5 when I got it in the summer. It was a little loose and would spin around, but would never fall off my finger, so I got used to it. Fast forward to winter and it got more loose where I put a Snuggie ring sizer on it to make it feel better. I took it to my jeweler and two ladies there confirmed that I am a size 5, so I got it sized down to a 5. I told them I was a little apprehensive about it, but they let me know that if it felt uncomfortable after, they could upsize it to a 5.25.

When I got it, I thought it felt better, but the resistance taking it off and on is making me nervous, especially since I have large knuckles. It’s 1-2 seconds to put on, 3 seconds to take off. I went to bed with it, and woke up with an indent in my finger and I REALLY had to work to take it off in the morning. I never had this problem before. I haven’t picked out wedding bands yet, and I am nervous this ring is going to be way too tight in the summer, especially with a wedding band. I am so upset that I got it resized, because I have a feeling I’m going to have to get it sized up now, and I know it’s not good to get a ring resized multiple times. Because of this, I am so anxious and upset, I can’t even eat or sleep. Has this happened to anyone before? What should I do to ensure I get the right ring size for all year long.

My ring would get tighter and looser depending on weather, hydration, etc. I brought it to my jeweler, who sized me originally, and said that it’s common. I was super worried my ring would fall off and asked him to resize it. He said instead of doing that he can add this to my ring. He said it’s safe to add and remove. Maybe you can have something like this done? He did not charge me to add it on.

It sounds like your fingers might be a lot like mine. In the winter, they shrink, in the summer, they swell. My I ended up doing a .25 size for my rings and they literally fit perfect all year round. At times in the winter it might spin some, but not enough to cause issues. In the summer, it fits like a glove. I would probably have them resize it one last time to the 5.25 and also buy your band in that size.
