Eloping in Reno, nv

Emily, on September 8, 2020 at 6:40 AM Posted in Nevada Planning 0 3
So our wedding was supposed to be 10/24/20, but since the county our venue is in has not yet allowed them to open, we decided to postpone our wedding to 10/16/21. In the meantime, we are planning on still getting legally married (for the insurance benefits, making it easier to buy a house, etc.). However, we don’t want this elopement to take away any of the magic of our actual wedding day, so we are looking for an absolutely no-frills wedding ceremony. To give an idea of what we’re looking for: my parents are aware we plan to get legally married, but they understand that for the sake of keeping it as low-key as possible, even they will not be invited (or even know WHEN we do it). My fiancé might not even tell his parents of our plans.

Coincidentally, we might be taking a trip up to Reno in a couple of weeks with one of our really good friends (who happens to be my MOH), and if we do we’re considering making a small side trip to get legally hitched. She would be the only one to know about the marriage. Due to COVID-19, the courthouses there are not performing any weddings (but they’re still holding marriage license appointments). Does anyone know of any inexpensive wedding chapels/venues in Reno/Lake Tahoe that will do a very, very simple ceremony (or even none at all, just complete the paperwork for us)? We don’t want or need flowers, photography, any of that.
TL,DR: we need to find someplace that will do a no-frills, as low-key as possible, wedding ceremony in/around Reno, NV for our elopement.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Smiley smile
