Elopements and intimate wedding

Brooke, on January 16, 2021 at 2:45 PM Posted in Colorado Planning 0 9
Hello I’m in love with the idea of Colorado mountain side wedding with me and my family but I have reservations:
1.) I don’t know the area (ceremony location ideas, places to stay overnight, vendors etc.)
2.) I don’t know how much a destination wedding would cost3.) if my family would be able to come with us
My family has been dying to be apart of our wedding but I don’t know who all would be able to make it. Any suggestions for ceremony location ideas, house rental for me and 20+ guests, vendors, etc.? Also has anyone eloped to CO before?

House rentals for multiple people have been banned during Covid.

Take a look at Instagram, Yelp, thumbtack.com for local vendors.
    Eventective.com for venues.
Browse online to get hotel costs and quotes from vendors. Talk to your families about who can attend.

    1. You are going to want to use the venue and vendor tabs at the top to locate a ceremony/reception location and whatever vendors you want/need. I would recommend checking out venues and vendors on The Knot (similar to WeddingWire) as well. As for places to stay, a hotel is going to be your best option. Like Michelle mentioned, Airbnb has banned house rentals of more than 16 people. They have also banned events like weddings.

    2. This is something you'd need to research. Depending on where you live you'd need to take travel, accommodations, venue, and vendors into consideration. Costs vary so much that it is hard to give you an estimate.

    3. No one can tell you this, but your family. You'd have to discuss your idea with them to see if they want or could travel with you. Some people might not want to because of Covid.

My FH and I looked into eloping at rocky mountain national park (RMNP). It's about 45 mins away from Denver. We ultimately decided that we didn't want to pay the money flying out there, lodging, paying for the national park permit to marry there which is $300. Our families didnt want to pay the money either.
One cool thing about Colorado is that a couple can self solemize their marriage, meaning an officiant isn't required.

Here is a pic of Lily Lake Dock at the RMNP where many get marriedElopements and intimate wedding 1

My favorite location was the 3M curve at RMNP:Elopements and intimate wedding 2

This is what we have decided to do!! We found an elopement photographer that is helping us out with locations, permits, vendors, etc. since we are unfamiliar with the area. We’re using it as our wedding and honeymoon for the rest of the week after!

Try The Abbey in Canon City, CO. It is basically all inclusive with a caterer on site and a bar tender and liquor license. You do have to pay for food and alcohol. So far with just adding the DJ and photographer and the Sisters house (which sleeps 28) and food and alcohol I'm looking at less than 10k. The venue and reception price is between 1500 and 1700 depending on where you want to get married (outside or inside). Good luck!

Boulder creek w/ Wedgewood weddings is a beautiful mountain location!! It's where we are getting married and has a cute little creek you can get married next to as well!! This company is awesome as well and covers everything besides the photography!
