Elopement in Maui Help

Patricia, on June 19, 2018 at 11:54 PM Posted in Hawaii Planning 0 14

We have decided that we are going to elope in Hawaii. After searching I choose Maui. I'm very lost choosing anything from where to stay, what packages to choose etc. Any suggestions about hotels, planners, photographers, hair and makeup stylist will be truly appreciated. P.S. It's a 2nd wedding for both of us. We are going by our selves and want a romantic and memorable ceremony. Thank you.

Lahaina is very beautiful. I would just pick a nice hotel in the area and go with their preferred vendors or a package deal. You should keep in mind that a lot of people travel to hawaii to get married, so alot of hotels have good packages with great vendors that know what they're doing. I live on the big island, and my reception venue offers great packages all inclusive.. from officiants, decor, food, cake, music.. to hair and makeup. They will basically do everything you just have to show up!

My husband and I had an intimate sunset beach ceremony in west Maui last month. It was just the two of us (plus our photographer, videographer, and officiant). It was absolutely wonderful, beautiful, romantic, and low-stress.

We went a simpler route in terms of planning. We didn't use a wedding planner (we found that we really didn't need one for a simple elopement). We wanted to keep the budget under control, so we prioritized what we wanted to invest in and what we wanted to forgo. We chose the beach setting because we knew we wouldn't need additional decorations or "staging" - it was picturesque and photo-ready as it was. We put the bulk of our wedding funds towards getting high-quality photography, videography, and hair and makeup.

I found an officiant on yelp who collaborated with us to create a custom ceremony. Our officiant also took care of getting the beach permit for us (which was an additional, but minimal expense).

    The vendors we used:

    Bridal hair and makeup: https://www.weddingwire.com/biz/bree-rubin-hair-makeup-lahaina/6ec0d4262be425a9.html

Bree helped me through a pre-wedding hair debacle, and she was very professional. I definitely recommend her!

    Photography: https://www.stephaniebetsill.com/

Stephanie was awesome as well! She does beautiful work. She's also an exceptionally nice person, and she made my husband and I feel very comfortable during our shoot. We loved the way our photos came out.

    Videography: http://www.wakeupmatt.ca/

Matt's website doesn't really emphasize the fact that he also does wedding videography, but if you contact him and ask him for examples of his wedding work, I'm sure he'll be happy to provide those links. Matt is also super nice, and he did an excellent job documenting our wedding. He was a great find! As a bonus, Matt and our photographer, Stephanie, happen to know each other and they work really well together. They were laid-back and relaxed, but also very professional.

Flowers (bridal bouquet and groom's boutonniere): http://www.lahainaflowers.com/ https://www.yelp.com/biz/my-flower-shop-lahaina-2

The florist, Diana, really came through for us at the last minute. She created a lovely white and pink cymbidium orchid bouquet for me and a matching boutonniere for my husband on very short notice. (I definitely recommend that you put in an order for a bouquet as least a month in advance though.) This shop does amazing tropical flower arrangements, and they also offer delivery to nearby locations.

My husband and I spent 10 days on Maui, and we split our time between the west side of the island and the south side. We booked condos through VRBO and HomeAway, and that actually worked out really well for us. We wanted privacy, and we wanted to have a kitchen space so that we could could cook together and whatnot, so renting condos was a great fit for us. We also got some really good rates on some nice spaces. (I realize you might be envisioning booking a hotel, so this may not be the way you want to go.)

I hope that helps! Maui is a stunning setting, so I'm sure your wedding will be wonderful no matter what route you choose to go. :o)

We are getting married in Wailea. It's practically an elopement. We are using Maui Wedding Adventures and getting married right on the beach. We can't wait.

I am not sure on who to suggest for any vendors as we are in the midst of planning our Maui wedding and have to figure it out- but any resort along the Kaanapali strip and Lahaina side of the island is gorgeous for staying! The Westin and Marriott and Hyatt are our favorites. Luxury and you are treated like royalty! If they knew you were getting married/newlyweds they would probably treat you even better! Enjoy!

I got married in Kihei. I wanted sunset photos and the sunset is best on that side. So start by picking when you want to do everything too.

Here are a few of my photos. We did some in the bamboo before heading to the beach.
