Early December Honeymoon

Jaclyn, on May 29, 2021 at 1:07 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4
Hello! We are getting married on December 4, 2021 and planning for our honeymoon for December 6-11. We are from Southern California and love going to the mountains and snow during winter time. We have always talked about wanting to learn to ski/snowboard but haven't yet. So I think our honeymoon would be a great opportunity to book a really nice ski resort somewhere in the states.

Im just concerned that the first couple weeks of December would be too early for any resorts. I know in So Cal it can still be in the 80-90s in December, but im not sure about anywhere else. Has anyone gone or stayed at a ski resort before? And if so, was there snow and skiing already open and available? We definitely want a more cold, cozy, mountain type honeymoon instead of beachy, tropical, or city.
I am open to any suggestions! thank you!

I know that over here on the East Coast in the Northeast, states like Vermont and New Hampshire often have skiing starting before Thanksgiving. They'll throw down some fake snow if they don't have enough for real, I have a friend who is an avid skiier and would go up for a long weekend of skiing on Thanksgiving. I'm thinking somewhere like Colorado or places that are well-known for skiing and snowboarding would probably do the same. There's also a popular place in Utah I believe, can't remember the name. But I'd look into some resorts and see if they do something similar!

Don't mind me as I laugh at the thought of 80 degrees in December 😅😅 I assure you, the rest of the states aren't like that! I'm in the Midwest and there are plenty of times we've had snow by Thanksgiving, hell we've even gotten snow in early October before. If you're looking for mountains and snow, id say Montana or Colorado. Aspen is a great resort town, very expensive though.

Park city, Utah usually is pretty cold around that time! Perfect cozy mountain town, but can be pricey. Look at Denver and other places in Colorado too!
