Dumb question-table "scatter"/"diamonds"

Cheetah2B, on March 19, 2014 at 1:56 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

So, I'm looking online at that table scatter stuff? And almost all of it comes in packs of 1000pcs. How far do you think that would go?!

Lol...I will have 8 rectangle tables for dinner, 6 smaller round tables(4 seater mini metal patio tables), 2 food tables, 2 app tables, and then the cake table and seating card/sign in table.

I'm thinking that because they'll be scattered, and not used as vase filler, that this will be plenty. That's about 75 pieces per table!

They're 4.5 mm, so about 1/3 carat I think.

It just depends on how full you want to make each table look...I suggest starting off with buying one bag and doing a setup with your decorations to test it out and see how much you would like to use for each table

I was afraid of that lol.

A website says 200-300 a table. That almost sounds like too much to me!

Well, I'm gonna finish buying all the table deco on the first. I figure worst case, I'll buy a few bags, and make it work lol. If I don't hae enough, I'll just use it on the outside tables during cocktail, and just use candles inside on the reception tables. The outside ones are 40" circles, inside are the heavy marble and wood Ashley furniture tables. So if anything, they'll go further on the smaller outside tables, and I only have 4 of them!

I think diamond confetti is the word you're looking for and I bought two boxes (not sure how many pieces in each box) for 20 tables....I'm looking for maybe 60 of them for each table and a little more for the cake table.

I think I've ended up with about 4000 3mm ones for 9 tables, along with some tiny wooden hearts to scatter as well. I don't want to go overboard, but at the same time it's awful when something like that looks like it's been half done or skimped on.

I would err on the side of having too many rather than not enough - you can always sell or donate them onwards if you have too many.

I agree with Jacquie.J - set up a table or area roughly the size of what yours will be and see how they look scattered to work out how many you think you'll need. You may have to laboriously count how many there are once you've got it looking good, but at least you'll know!

Jemma, that's essentially what I'm gonna have to do!

I was hoping not to, but fh said the same thing. Plus, I'd only be out about $20, so it's not a huge deal I guess!

You could maybe try weighing instead of counting, then weigh the whole bag to work out roughly how many it was - might be quicker!

Keep them away from kids who may think they are candy.

It depends on the size.. I actually ordered 1000 diamond confetti for my daughter sweet 16 and when I received it they we really small maybe covering about 2 rectangle tables.

For reference, we got 4 blown glass vases (small) from Hobby Lobby to use in the center of our sweetheart table...one box of "scatter" only filled two vases 1/4 of the way full - just enough to let us set LED candles in them...you will need a LOT MORE than what you think.

Be careful...I bought the cheap bag of 2000 diamonds to use as a base vase filler....bad idea...not nearly enough. I decided I'll use it to bedazzle my bach party veil! lol

Thankfully the 6 kids that will be there, are disciplined enough to know that they don't touch stuff that doesn't belong to them.

They're only like $3 a bag, so me and fh figured we would buy 10 bags, and go from there...we may have a fake middle to the cake, and if so, a few can go to decorating that. This way, I can have the other 2 tiers totally white like I wanted.

I figure 10,000 should do it. We divided up those glass vase marble things we have(they're the flat back marbles/disks?), and we have about 300 of those in red, opaque and white. So we figure those will get spread out on the cocktail tables, and sign in/candy tables. With the food, just use petals, and use the diamond things on the actual reception tables.

This way, we can spread them farther, but everything will still match, somewhat.
