Drinks necessary?

Hazel, on April 14, 2021 at 4:19 PM Posted in Utah Planning 0 1
We are having a light reception after our wedding with some appetizers and such, but nothing fancy. We are looking at ways to cut down on the price and I was thinking we might just not serve alcohol at the reception. We aren’t Mormon, but about half of our guests are LDS and don’t drink alcohol. Is alcohol an essential part of the reception or not? Let me know if any of you have faced this problem!

Hi Hazel!! What about if you just bought enough champagne for your guests who do drink to have a glass or two?

I've been to dry weddings that were still very fun, but they did tend to be shorter receptions (2-3 hours total instead of 4-5) and both of the weddings I attended were afternoon receptions. One had dancing, one wedding didn't - it was really up to their personalities and guest list!

Here are two other current discussions about dry weddings you should definitely check out:

Dry Wedding to not make Mormon guests uncomfortable?

Is a dry wedding really that bad? Lol
