Drink Number Totals

I think a lot of it is a "know your crowd" thing, so you've done a great job establishing how many will drink!

I know most of my family doesn't drink, so that will impact me. Even more so, I'm getting married on a Sunday afternoon, so we know it won't be nearly as "rowdy."

I bought all my wine from a local winery, so we're having:

one case of red, one case of white, a sangria for cocktail hour (no actual cocktails will be served) and one brand of beer.

My catering company recommended this tool from Evite.

It's a drink calculator that helps you determine how much to supply for your bar. We're doing beer, wine, and a signature drink, as well as soft drinks.

If your purchasing wine, I recommend checking out a local winery if you have one near you. Go for a tasting and try a bulk order - you'll often get a nice discount!

I'm going with bottles of wine on the tables, champagne toast and then open bar. With the open bar part we went with about 3 drinks per person. Some will be more than 3, some will be less than 3 and some will be none. . .so average 3. Now don't ask me how any bottles of wine.. . I'm from a family of wino's and we are supplying all of the wine. . .this is where I'm going to need that calculator!

Rachel, my FH's sister WAY overspent on her wedding alcohol but she made sure the extra wine and hard cider (which she served instead of beer) was something she would either drink herself or be comfortable gifting to others for birthdays and for Christmas. Also, some wineries and alcohol suppliers accept returns for unopened cases of wine. Doesn't help you keep initial costs down but will save you money over-all.

Alcohol is one of the biggest wedding expenses. These calculators help you determine what to get - very helpful! I also asked my wedding party what their favorite drink is and to bring their bottles and stash it at the bar. Our bartender will know who to serve what. I know it sounds silly, but it's a savvy idea to add a little extra that you don't have to pay for and a little treat for all your wedding party peeps!
