Dress shopping—show me your dress!!

You will know when the dress puts a big smile on your face and your heart feels like a bride

I went to a local bridal shop that had a designer that i liked a lot. I also gave my budget. The woman who helped me made sure to give me dresses that I showed her I liked within my budget from my Pinterest board but also gave me dresses in each style type (ballgown, mermaid, etc.) from that designer. It really helped me narrow down what i liked in not just dress type but also lace, beading, straps, sleeves, etc. So my suggestion is pick a designer or even something you really like on a dress (lace, beading). Then try on different styles with what you like to see what looks best on you! I ended up getting a dress from the designer i loved but it was totally different from the one i had marked as my favorite on my Pinterest board

Biggest advice is to try on a little bit of everything. I went in originally wanting a fit and flare, and I got talked out of it and into a ballgown that I eventually ended up hating. It was just a weird corset top that I kept looking at and hating. Went back to David's Bridal and tried on fit and flares again after losing thirty pounds, and everything finally flowed. Definitely what I was waiting for.



Honestly, I tried on plenty at David's Bridal, and there was a lot of "meh". And those were the designer lines, mostly Oleg Cassini. Quality is definitely lacking. My dress is one of the nicest they have, but I could see why you would think you need to keep looking. I wish I hadn't rushed the process and locked myself into David's Bridal, but I love my dress. If you want to stay within a budget, DB works and is plenty. I love my dress but had to work to find it. I think you can find some real gems for a good deal. So really, up to you!

I agree with Kathryn. Try every style on! The dress I ended up getting was the style that I didn't even want to try on when I went looking. It was a suggestion from the lady helping me.

Do you have pics of the dresses and what you liked about them?

I'm in the same spot. I had my first trip to David's Bridal as well and I just feel frazzled and confused now. I have my next appointment on Saturday at a local bridal salon, hopefully someone there can give me some more guidance as to what to do. I'm definitely feeling lost as to what I even want now.

The black dress is my ceremony dress and the cream dress is my reception dress, for 2 different events on 2 different dates.

Trust the person helping you! I was going to say yes to one dress, and then my consultant made me try this dress on. I loved it so much it was a no brainer decision! Also be open to different styles of dresses. I walked in thinking I wanted one thing, and then I left with my dress haha.

View Quoted Comment Thanks!!! The first thing the alterlarions lady asked me was "Do you want to keep the train?" And I was like "OF COURSE I DO." So it can be removed lol. I love the drama and will definitely keep it. Oleg Cassini has some newer gowns that are also drool worthy, if not a little bit more pricey. I also loved the Galina Signature fit and flares.
