Dress Shopping! What do i wear?

Nicole, on January 10, 2023 at 10:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hello Everyone! I'm going dress shopping this weekend, and just wanted to know if there's any suggestions on what I should bring or wear. We're going to 3 shops in one day haha. I'm of course bringing the shoes (sneakers) I'll be wearing day of. I was also thinking of wearing comfy sweats and crocs so I can slip in and out of to try on the dresses. Anything else you may think I should need?

I was thinking of bringing pasties too haha

For sure bring pictures of dresses you like! Even if it's just the sleeves from one dress, the train from another, the cut of a third, etc., it'll help the consultant pick out dresses that match what you're after. If you have anything you're considering wearing on your wedding day (things like heirloom jewelry, a hair comb, veil, garter, etc.) you should bring those to see how they'll go together. I'd also suggest nude undergarments in your style of choice to make sure they won't show under the dress. Most dresses have cups so you don't necessarily need to wear a bra when you're trying the dresses on, but pasties are probably a good call since you'll probably have a consultant helping you in and out of the dresses.

Definitely bring the pasties! I started out wearing a strapless silicone sticky bra and ended up taking it off and leaving at home for all other shop visits because it got in the way too much. After you choose your dress, then that’s the time to figure out the bra/no bra situation.

If you will be wearing makeup the day of (I don’t want to assume as some brides on here have chosen not to), then I highly suggest applying some makeup and doing your hair so you’re able to get a more accurate feel of how you will look in the dress on your wedding day. It sounds weird, but I read this tip somewhere and many people said it made a difference.

Okay, thumbs up to the pasties! and ohh yes that's a very good idea too. I may just do some simple make up to get a feel. Thank you so much

Like others said I didn’t wear a bra but I didn’t have pasties. My consultant would just turn around while I stepped in and pulled the dress up and then I would hold it to me will she would do the back but whatever makes you comfortable

I agree it makes a diff having a bit of make up on and nude underwear! Make sure you have space on phone for photos (..or maybe even prep your entourage to take sly photos). Take photos standing still from diff angles, but also videos walking around. Have a think what you like and dislike about the dress before showing your entourage, because it can sway very quickly!

I suggest taking the slip, bra, panties, shaper that you will wear under the dress to make sure it works with your dress preferences. Especially if it’s lower cut in the breast area, or tighter fitting than you’re used to.

Honestly, wear something you feel awesome in (head space is important) and that is also easy to get in and out of.
