Dress Regrets

Bride, on April 11, 2024 at 1:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 7

I'm getting married in a little over a month and I am regretting my dress choice Smiley sad

Don't get me wrong -- it's BEAUTIFUL and it's the only one I put on where I knew I loved it, but it's a really deep plunge and the straps are teeny tiny (& beaded). Not to mention I have a really big chest so I'm struggling to figure out how I'm going to stay up on the day of. I'm so sad because I love it but I feel like I'm just going to be so stressed about it and uncomfortable. It's obviously too late to do anything about it/get a new one, but has anyone gone through something similar?? Can you give me advice on how to deal with this regret? Smiley sad

It seemed someone else had that same issue but it turns out to be your other discussion.

Can you have a reception dress to wear sometime in the middle of the event so you can be more comfortable? Or you could try something over your bodice during the reception. Not sure what would work. So a second dress is probably better if it is in your budget.

If a seamstress could widen the straps and you have a modified mesh, won't that make it easier to use tape without it showing? you do not show the back, which might give a better idea what the options are.

Have you talked to a seamstress? A great seamstress can work miracles! Sometimes they have ideas that you wouldn’t even think about, or think would be possible. My first inclination is that you should replace the straps. A large chest and teeny straps don’t go well together. I would be incredibly fearful that you will break a strap. Also, with the weight of your chest, I would worry about the beading hurting your shoulders. I would replace the straps with wider, non-beaded ones. Also, a seamstress can close up a large portion of a plunge, which would give you better support and coverage. If you closed up enough of it, it should allow you to wear better supportive undergarments. There is also always the option of adding a wedding dress topper. They come in tons of different fabrics and designs.

I would also suggest having a reception dress to change into. It doesn’t have to be another wedding dress. It can be a cute cocktail or party dress. Just something comfortable that you can dance in without worry.

That's what I was suggesting, but the OP didn't seem keen on the idea. She wanted something that will keep the girls contained in the cups to keep them supported but to keep the plunge. Personally I Iove all of these suggestions.

The basic message is to find a blend of the easiest changes to the dress while also becoming content with (and ready for) whatever gets you to the wedding. If something goes wrong, be glad there are not a stadium full of people watching, but most of all know that you will still be married. I'm confident you can find something that works for you.
