Dress Doubts

Alyssa, on August 26, 2019 at 5:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi! I'm having a winter wedding, and I always thought I wanted sleeves... The last dress I tried on was the one, but no sleeves, it has straps and an interesting back. I do love it, but I'm slightly worried that winter is a bad idea for no straps. I'm considering looking at different wraps or stoles. But I'm afraid I won't love it unless I have sleeves... I know I love it, but I'm worried I'm making a mistake. I ordered it early july, so it's likely too late to stop the order and change my mind. I want to stick with it, because everything else about it is perfect. I do like the straps, but I am honestly not a strappy person. It's a sweetheart neckline, and I usually wear higher necked clothes. Any thoughts on how to ease my worries?

Could you add a bolero or lace overlay? Or have sleeves added?

I got married in December and purchased a vintage stole off Etsy if you decide to go that route.

You look stunning! I will be going to the shop tomorrow to look at veils. Hoping I can ask about sleeves. My aunt is a seamstress and I can ask her too.

I love a good vintage stole for a winter wedding! Your's is really lovely and looks so elegant! Do you think you'll ever wear it again?

So I am getting married in December and went through the same dilemma. I envisioned myself in a lace sleeved, poofy ballgown. When I went dress shopping though, I tried on several of that type and HATED the way they all looked. They made me look too matronly, and none of them were exactly what I was looking for. So I branched out and tried on and spaghetti strap one (something I was so against) and it ended up being the one. I have worried a lot about being cold, and have considered getting a pretty pashmina scarf to wrap around me during the ceremony. I still haven't decided if I'm going to order it, but that's definitely a thought! I have had slight dress regret when I see other girls in their long sleeves, but when I look back at the pictures of my dress, I remember that it was the one that made me feel the most beautiful and bridal and I will just find a way to deal with the cold. Side note: I'm in Florida so it could be 80 degrees that day and a total mute point. Lol.

That is so crazy we had the exact same experience! I hated the idea of spaghetti straps, but it's my dress!

I am getting a fur or pashmina as well! I say go for it! It will be a nice touch!

My dress is also lower cut then what I imagined but I loved it! Lol. I think I'm going to get a pretty pashmina and then I'll at least have it even if I don't wear it for the ceremony, I might for some pictures!

I found a satin backless bridal topper I'm considering, on etsy...
