Dress Anxiety Vent.

Julija, on January 29, 2023 at 4:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

So I found my dress at the Orland Park, IL House of Brides on February 19th, 2022. It is perfect, I love it. We placed the order on that date and it came on August 28th, 2022. When I tried it however there were a few problems. The main one being that the center applique was completely off center. My consultant said that it would be an easy fix for the seamstress and that she would add it to the notes. Well, I called to make an appointment with the seamstress to start working on some of the customizations I have planed for the dress this upcoming month. They tried talking me out of starting so early, but when I started to explain what needed to be done the secretary was so confused. She pulled up my file and started talking about ordering a new dress for me since that was a manufacturing error and how none of this info was in my electronic file. I am now stressing out because they have a lot of reviews on their page talking about how they aren't the best at keeping things on time. She said she would talk to my consultant and give me a call tomorrow. I'm now really anxious and hope that even if they order a new dress that they will still keep the old one just in case it doesn't come in on time. Thank you for letting me rant here.

I feel you on this one, I had a similar issue, but as soon as my seamstress saw the dress. She said appliques are easy to do. I think the hem is the most time consuming. She also told me that even if she had to take the dress in some more she could make it happen in a couple of weeks. I think dress anxiety is very common. The one thing you need to get just right!!! I my opinion, I think there is plenty of time. It is good that you are on top of the situation now. Smiley smile

Thank you. It helps hearing from someone who also went through it.

I think you have plenty of time. It looks like your original dress came in in 6 months, so if they order a new one it would be here in July/ August. My seamstress told me that most alterations could be started and completed within a week if it really came down to it, so you should have plenty of time to get your dress wedding-ready Smiley smile
