Dream Venue Only Books Six Months Out - Risky?

Marie, on November 16, 2019 at 1:35 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
I’ve found a dream venue that fits our personalities perfectly. Only problem is they only allow reservations six months out. It’s a big beautiful lodge at a state park and you basically log onto the website six months prior to make your reservation, just like you would for a campsite. I’ve called and they are closed for the season, until May 1st. Wedding is early Sept. Anyone have experience or advice on this sort of issue? I feel six months is really cutting it close and I can’t really plan until I’ve got the venue locked down.

I would personally find that timeline too stressful. I’m usually stressed about planning and details anyway though haha. Booking the venue was when planning seemed real because we had a set date. This is the first question every single vendor asked when we booked them. Without the venue you don’t really have a confirmed date, more of an intended one, which to me isn’t enough to book vendors on. If they have weddings there and this is the process obviously brides have made it work. It just wouldn’t be enough time for me but plenty of people plan in 6 months!

We had only 7 months to plan a wedding. We contact our dream venue and they got us in. Now you may have to have a Friday wedding but its doable

If this is the venue and you want it this year, I say go for it! I would hire a wedding planner, so that when May comes you are hyper organized and ready to get all off the coordination with the venue done quickly. You should be able to do quite a bit of the planning and booking vendors without their involvement.
