Donating unwanted bridesmaid gifts?

Michelle, on January 27, 2024 at 4:48 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 1
Over the course of being a bridesmaid, some people get something they have no use for but they don’t want to store it or transfer it in a move to another home. It does happen that unfortunately a bride spends money on thank you gifts (and the latest fad of bridesmaid proposal boxes) that don’t turn out to be gifts but are props for photos. Some ladies don’t find jewelry useful because it’s such a personal taste item, and others don’t find a use for personalized clothes and similar items with names and titles and don’t want to wear them around the house either, etc. Do you donate these gifts to Goodwill, put them in the trash, or hide them in the closet and forget to pack them when you move?

I think the only bridesmaid gift that I received that I didn't use after the wedding was a robe (which was really only intended to be used for getting ready photos at the wedding anyway). I think it's still floating around somewhere in my closet, but I'll likely end up donating it. All other items I've received as bridesmaid gifts were very personalized and thoughtful, and I still use them today. For example, one gift I received was a pearl necklace, which I ended up wearing in my engagement photos!
