Does it look funny if the centerpieces are different colors?

Michelle, on May 20, 2020 at 6:31 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 34
So my mom got into my head about having some tall centerpieces so I bought a tall vase for a mock up to see if I could do it. It takes a looot more flowers...like 2x more than my small centerpiece! The mock up could use more flowers. Also, I’m having a hard time finding a tall gold vase match my short vase....everything I found is almost rose gold. Would it look funny to have some tables with my short vase yellow gold color and some tables with more of this rose gold?? I think it looks funny if I used different color vases.

In your photos there actually is not much of a difference in colors of the vases

If they are side by side there is a big difference but they will be by themselves at each table.

Ah ok in different lighting i can see the differences now. i think if they're going to be on different alternating tables it's perfectly fine to have different colors.

We had different gold tones with a lot of our centerpiece vessels (we went for a more eclectic look) and no one batted an eye. Especially with them not being next to each other— you should be fine.

Do you have photos? Smiley smile

That’s a relief to hear, I really like the tall vase but it’s difficult to find short or tall vases that match.

Not sure if you can tell from the photos on here, but here’s the link to my wedding on florist’s site: https://www.foxtailflorals.com/gallery/lets-go-on-a-safari

I had black stands for my tall centerpieces and gold for the short ones. We just made sure it flowed in design and color palette. I had so many different golds on my tablescape and furniture — mirrored, matte, brass... but it worked. I did carefully curate my design to make sure everything was cohesive and made sense, but wasn’t too “matchy-matchy”.

I am very much into matching so it would annoy me to have two different color vases.

We had different tall and short vases. I thought it created a nice effect.

    Beautiful!!!! Thanks for sharing!

Yes..I can see it now that I have both mock ups together. I love the tall and short...I had to steal some flowers from the bigger vase so it might not look as full lol I need to buy more greenery and flowers.

Yeah, I think part of it is also that there were different flowers used throughout. My brother's wife is a very talented florist and insisted on doing my wedding, so she just kind of had free reign. They are actually a mix of high quality silk and real as well. The tall ones were actually dual-purposed. They lined the aisle for the ceremony and then were put on the tables for the reception. So that's something else you can consider for the tall ones.

Haha no problem! That was all my sister in law's idea. And honestly, I totally forgot until I went into my wedding photos to pull those for this post. On the day of, I was literally just looking at my now husband. I didn't know what my surroundings looked like lol. I was just staring at him and crying like a baby 😅

Yeah I’m sure no one gives a crap about my centerpieces but me and my mom lol. She’s the one that convinced me to add some tall ones.

Thanks! I am trying, I never put flowers together before. No on the spray paint, I’m afraid I’ll make it worse lol. But I think it might be okay now that I can see them both with flowers especially if they’re separated and on its own at each table.

I really like the duality of them both! I think both could do! Make the room more dynamic!! If you don't like the color or if you feel it needs a change maybe paint the ones you don't like gold? I think you did a really beautiful job on these!! They look beautiful!!
