Does anyone else share the same name with one of their future in laws?

My FSIL's name is also Alyssa, and it feels so weird to change my name to have the same name as her. Smiley xd

I've debated on changing my last name or not, I just hope when she gets married she changes her last name.

We had two people with the same name in my family at one point! One married in to the family, and happened to have the same name as my sister. When my sister married, she changed her last name, so now they don't have the same name anymore, but when they did have the same name, we'd find ways to specify which one we were referring to. It wasn't too difficult.

It was weird when FH and I first started dating (almost 10 years ago) so usually people call her by her nick name and I'm Alyssa. We still enjoy both answering when people just say Alyssa. Sometimes my FMIL will yell at her daughter, look at me and go "I don't mean you" Smiley xd

I also have a fear of identity theft. My dad never wanted to name my brother after him bc of that.

My ex-MIL and I have the same first name and middle initial so when I was married to her son we were both Sarah J. (Ex’s last name). That was pretty awful because she hated me.

So two of my friends are both named Kathleen - one went by Kathleen, the other went by Kathy. They ended up marrying twin brothers and now have the same exact legal name (they even both have the same middle name!). Needless to say, booking flights when they travel together is a lot of fun haha

Hahaha, omg thats great. Our only mix up happened when being invited to a friends wedding my bridal shower invite went addressed to her house instead of mine. She still lives at home, so she was included on FMIL's bridal shower invite and got mine.

At least we have two different middlenames, and two different ethnicities.

Not exactly the same, but my friend's name is Sarah and she married someone with the last name Sarra. So she now has the same first and last name basically 😂

I kept it until I married my now husband. I share a daughter with my ex-H so I didn’t want to change it when we split since it’s also her name.

That will definitely take some getting used to!! 😆 But it sounds like you'll be fine with your different middle names and nicknames - and fingers crossed her takes a new last name in the future! 😉

My family pokes fun at me because my older brother's name is Brian and my husband's name is Bryan - but my mom had it way worse! Her dad, brother, and husband are all named John!! 🙊

Both of my brothers' wives have the same first name, so we have two "Susie Jones" in the family. When we have to distinguish, we usually use their maiden name or initial, like "Susie I" or "Susie M." It's a little like elementary school, Smiley winking but sometimes we need to clarify (usually to each other) who we're talking about. (There are also 3 members of the extended family who have the same first name as my dad, so we have a lot of "Big Joe," "Little Joe," "baby Joe," "English Joe," clarifications.... Smiley winking )

This happened to a girl I went to school with. Her younger brother's fiancee had her same first name which she thought was weird for 5 minutes and then decided it's out of anyone's hands.

I would say it is forever weird to address something "To:Alyssa From:Alyssa"

I know a guy named Ashley who married a girl named Ashley and she took his last name. So they have the same name—I think it’s fun to them haha
