Do you keep wearing an engagement ring after marriage, or put it somewhere safer?

Abby, on March 7, 2022 at 3:26 AM Posted in Married Life 0 27

Should I wear the ring every day or store it carefully?

Personally, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t continue wearing your engagement ring after marriage unless it’s inconvenient for whatever reason.

When it is really humid where I am, I don’t wear either ring because my fingers swell, or I won’t wear them when I do intensive work or use my hands a lot because my centre stone is large and can get in the way but otherwise I wear mine every day as a set with my wedding ring.

I’m planning on wearing both the engagement ring and the wedding ring together on the daily!Smiley smile Usually see women stack the two rings together on one hand but I’ve also seen a few wear one ring on the right hand and another on the left.

I think it’s just personal preference, but most women I think wear their E ring. I think on day to day for work I’ll only wear my band, but to go out I’ll probably with both.

I’m going to put mine away for the most part. You have to take it off for so many things & I feel like its very prone to getting lost. My worst fear is leaving it behind in the bathroom. Also, even though it is a diamond it is still prone to damage ie scratching, chipping, cracking ect. A stone can even fall out! The band will also scratch, even tarnish from wear if it is white gold.

I am pretty active and know I'll lose stones (already lost one within a month of getting it!), so I will be wearing a plain white gold band afterward and wear my E ring on my right hand on dressier occasions.

Depends on the situation. Just doing stuff around the house? Engagement ring is off. I've started to wear it to work more frequently now (work in a hospital so wash my hands frequently) but at the height of the pandemic, I wasn't. That's why I didn't solder my tings together: I like the option of wearing one or both depending on what I'm doing and how I'm feeling that day.

I plan on soldering my engagement ring and my wedding ring together, so I'll either be wearing both or none. If we're at a place where I shouldn't wear an engagement ring I also shouldn't be wearing my wedding ring, so I plan on getting a silicone ring for those occasions.

I am wearing both. I’m so absentminded I am afraid to take it off and lose it.

I personally plan on continuing to wear mine! I picked my wedding ring to coordinate with my ER and while I could wear it by itself, it'll look best with the ER. My friend is getting her two rings soldered together, and that's what my mother did as well. However, another friend is a nurse and only wears her wedding ring on normal days. She has a thin band she can wear under her gloves, then she wears her ER for formal occasions or date nights or other social gatherings!

So, just to repeat what everyone else has said: it is entirely up to you and there isn't really a right or wrong way to do it!

Mine are made to stack, so yes I’ll keep wearing my engagement ring. If I’m hiking or at the beach or whatever, I’ll wear a silicone band.
If you don’t have a stacking band, I know a lot of people move the engagement ring to their right ring finger so they can keep wearing it.

As others have indicated, this is a personal choice. In the US most women continue to wear their engagement ring for ever with the wedding band, excepting certain momentary circumstances like cleaning or yard work or whatever (or job related). However it is up to you! I know a few ladies who only wear bands.

I personally hate wearing my engagement ring - it's bulky and i feel like i'm always so conscious about it. i don't wear it, i just keep it somewhere safe. i only wear it when i feel fancy.

so i only wear my plain band.

Yes, of course. I still wear my engagement ring and wedding ring after getting married. But nor

would I wear the rings if I were painting the house, giving the dog a bath, kneading bread,

changing the oil in the car, or doing other dirty, grubby chores, or if I had a job in which wearing rings could result in injury.

I’m going to wear them both. FH had them made for me and they’re just too beautiful to not wear them. I do take my engagement ring off when I’m at home, but I have to wear it out. (Unless I’m doing something where it may get lost or damaged). But this is totally your choice!

It's up to you. You can choose to keep it in a safe place and not wear it after marriage. Or you can wear it with your wedding band, so they look more attractively shining together. I wear my engagement ring together with my wedding band.

I had no idea so many people didn't wear them together forever! You learn something new every day lol.

I got a solitaire enhancer as my wedding ring and I'm planning to have my engagement ring soldered to it. That's what my mom did as well. I'll probably get a silicon band or a cheap plastic ring for when I send my engagement ring off for soldering and then until the wedding since I don't want to wear the rings together until we're married. I work at a desk job so there's nothing in my day-to-day to really worry about, but I totally get why people with hands-on jobs would opt for something different.

I, like others have stated have mine soldered together. My hubby bought me a crystal ring holder for my bedside table that I put it on when I am not wearing it. I rarely leave the house without it. My Engagement ring and both my bands are insured so if anything happens to them they can be repaired or replaced. I wear all of them proudly and with love.

I wear my engagement ring every day so I imagine I’ll wear both but I think everyone just has a preference. Some just wear bands and some wear neither unless they’re getting dressed up! Just depends on you and your lifestyle and what’s comfortable!
