Do we send guests who already Rsvpd "no" a "change the Date"?

Liz, on August 19, 2020 at 8:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Never thought I'd be in this position to be honest. We sent our formal invitations out 2 weeks ago for our Sept 26 wedding. As the days went by, things still aren't looking great here in TX so we've decided to elope out of state (alone) and move the reception. Since we have already sent original invitations, we are getting "Regrets" replies...question is, do I still send those guests new Save the Dates? Thanks in advance for ANY advice!

I would still send them one, as they may be able to make it to your new date.

Honestly, I wouldn’t. Unless someone who RSVPed no gave you a specific reason like a graduation or something, I personally wouldn’t.

Yes because they might be to attend the new date when they couldn't attend the original.

Yes! I would definitely send them a new save date as they might be able to attend the new date or feel more comfortable being in a large group depending on how things progress in your state.

Thank you all for your input! What do ya'll think of forgoing the "Change the Date" and sending the "Nos" the new "We've eloped, join us to celebrate.." invitation later instead?

For a wedding that we were supposed to attend in May and had RSVPed no to, we received a change the date card in the mail. The only reason we weren’t going to the original was because it was out of state and we couldn't afford it (it was rather lavish). They changed their wedding to be in the next state over from us instead, so we considered going until they decided they just wanted to elope with their immediate family.

I would definitely recommend sending the save the dates to all guests you initially invited.. the date may be the reason certain guests declined or the current state of things. If you're moving the date, that may change some people's availability.
