For any DIY craft, I suggest starting on it way earlier than you think you need to! That way, if things don't work out the way you want and you need to make adjustments or start over, you have plenty of time built in.

Definitely start early. Nearly all our decorations are diy or things we’ve picked up along the way. Luckily we don’t need much decorations because our venue is an old barn on an old apple orchard. I didn’t want to take away from the natural rustic charm. Fabric got pretty expensive. I got a Cricut last Christmas and man it is a life saver. We’ve made all our own signs, custom champagne flutes, custom cornhole boards, addressed our invites, card box, cake topper, and so much more. Highly recommend investing in one!!

Definitely like everyone else says start early with diy items because of the fact they could take longer or you may need to change up things to them. Now I know not everyone is into Tiktok but lots of ideas on there to for diy weddings and YouTube as well. Maybe even try Facebook for diy wedding groups or pages.

Enlist help. Not everyone is crafty and that's ok so stick to your skillset. Be mindful of pricing because some things can easily get more expensive going the DIY route than paying someone on Etsy, because they forget to factor in time, etc.

Definitely consider Etsy. I love the look of homemade things, but I have a tendency to get overwhelmed with DIY or be frustrated by the outcome. It was a huge help to buy stuff on Etsy! I got lots of cute personalized things, my jewelry, bouquet, flower crown, cake topper, etc on there.

Start early, figure out when Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc have sales on specific things you will need, take your time, Make a list of everything you are wanting to make yourself, do not do too much in one day, and have a blast while doing it!
