dj - Playlists and Song Selections

Lisa, on August 18, 2021 at 6:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

It's officially that time for us to select our music! I'm currently creating a list of songs for the following:

Bridal March: Speechless by Dan + Shay, either the piano cover or an instrumental version

Processional: Perfect by Ed Sheeran, instrumental

I'm wondering if I should have two songs since we have the following people in the processional, not necessarily in this order, Mother of the Bride escorted by my two brothers, Parents of the Groom, Groom, MOH & BM, Officiant, Flower Girls and Ring Bearer.

Recessional: I'm Yours by Jason Mraz

Grand Entrance: (Bride & Groom Only) Either, Marry You by Bruno Mars, Somebody Like You by Keith Urban or Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake

First Dance: Can't Take my Eyes off You by Frankie Vaili

Cake Cutting: Undecided so far

Father Daughter Dance: My Wish by Rascal Flatts

Mother Son Dance: Undecided so far

For your processional, how many people are walking down and how many songs are you using? What are you doing for your Cake Cutting song? Everything I stumble upon seems over done or cheesy...

Share any other advise or suggestions you may have!

Thank you!

Love your choices so far Smiley smile

We have 3 songs total for the Processional. 1 for the parents to be ushered to seats, another for the wedding party & lastly 1 for my dad & I.

We are using Better Together by Jack Johnson for cake cutting.

If you need an idea for mother/son dance, my FH chose an acoustic version of Lean on Me & it's lovely. Smiley heart

We had an organist as our ceremony musician, so our prelude and processional songs were all instrumental which made it easy to cut the songs off early and transition!

I had one song for the bridesmaids processing in (7 bridesmaids), and then the organist switched to a new song for me!

We didn't have a RB/FG and our family were escorted to their seats ahead of time instead of walking down the aisle.

Processional: Best Part by H.E.R and Daniel Caesar (3 BMs/3 GM walked together and my MOH walked alone since husband's best man was already standing with him)

Bridal Walk: I'm Kissing You by Des'ree

    Recessional: Electric Love by Borns

Grand Entrance: (Bride & Groom Only) Bring Em Out by T.I (although I wish we had changed it since originally it was for us AND the wedding party but plans changed last minute)

First Dance: Heaven by Kane Brown

Cake Cutting: Eat It by Weird Al Yankovic (courtesy of husband)

    We didn't have parent dances.

Processional: undecided but between, Debussy: Claire De Lune, Penguine Cafe: Perpetuum Motion, or Devotchka: The Winner Is

Recessional: All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar

Grand Entrance: Warriors by Too Many Zooz

First Dance: Past Lives by Borns

Father Daughter: Half the Man by Jennifer Smested followed by the Oscar Meyer Song (long story but very personal for the bride and her dad)

Mother Son: My Wish by Rascal Flatts

Cake Cutting: You've Got the Love by Florence + The Machine

Exit: Golden Years by David Bowie
