diy Wedding Arch

Be honest: how difficult is it to DIY your own wedding arch? My MOH said her cousin could make one for about $100-$200, but Hobby Lobby sells a metal frame for $20 (not counting the drapes, flowers, etc, of course).

Another reason why I’m hesitant to have one built is the venue. The lady who gave me a tour (one two separate days - bless her!) advised me that the arch would have to be dismantled in order to get it through the door.
If you have any experience with the DIY arch kits (assembling, decorating, all the things), what advice do you have for me?

I looked into this. My fiance and I heavily considered building it. You can honestly buy a good one under $100 on Amazon. I think ours was around $80. It comes in a box so you can assemble it and take it apart pretty easily. So transporting it is also easy. Our arch was not supposed to be complex, but if you're not a wood worker, you would be surprised.

That’s what I thought, too. I just figured it would be wise to ask before I charge ahead and goof something up 😂

We built ours for under $100. We also needed ours to be able to be brought in pieces so we looked up many ways to build them that allows that. If you or your partner are handy and crafty I recommend making it yourself to save some money as well as make sure it’s 100% the way you want.

Have you priced what the local rental companies charge? They are cheaper overall than purchasing or DIY usually. With DIY, you have to factor in your experience (or lack of), your patience/sanity and your time at minimum wage per hour in addition to the cost of supplies. So DIY is not always cheaper. Also, with a rental company, you don’t have to spend extra time finding a home for it afterwards including transportation on your own dime. The $20 Hobby Lobby version is more economical if those are your only two options. Also, many couples don’t have any arch at their ceremony so don’t feel like you have to have one.

I recently bought an arch from Amazon for $45. It is easy to install and easy to decorate. I recommend it Smiley smile
