diy Hair and Makeup

Samantha, on October 22, 2021 at 1:58 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

We're having a small destination wedding, and since I won't be able to do a hair or makeup trial I was planning on doing my hair and makeup myself. I'm pretty decent at both, and think it will work out as long as I get the right tools (and I think I have most of what I would need, so it would be much cheaper to buy remaining supplies rather than pay someone else).

Has anyone booked HMU without a trial first? How did it go..?

If you've done your own hair and makeup, did you have any YouTube tutorials you used or any product recommendations? Alie Glines has a wedding makeup video that seems super promising, and Kayley Melissa has a video of hairstyles you can do yourself which also seems promising. Just wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions!

We’re also having a destination wedding and I booked someone to do my hair and makeup and won’t have a trial. I’m nervous but I’m hoping all the research of every review site, stocking the Instagram, and website will not let me down . I’ll let you know how it goes.

Good luck!!!!! The company I'm using for my officiant recommended a HMUA but it'll be $390 for my hair and my makeup and they'll only do mine (and I'd like to get my mom's done if anyone is getting anything done) and I'm not sure I'm up for that for such a short, small wedding.

I did my own wedding makeup and I have no regrets. I actually did two trials with different makeup artists before deciding to do it myself. The nice thing is, you can practice as much as you want on yourself and find products that work well for you.

I love Allie Glines videos and definitely used those. I also used some of the Charlotte Tillbury ones, and specific videos for issues I ran into while practicing (for example, I looked up videos on creases in concealer, dry skin issues, eye shadow for deep-set eyes, etc.)

I have no regrets! I LOVE how my makeup turned out and now have great products that work for me Smiley smile

The Laura Mercier setting powder and Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray worked really well at keeping my makeup in place and fresh all day. I love my Too Faced Born This Way foundation too, and splurged on a Charlotte Tillbury lipstick that I love.

I did get my hair professionally done, and have no regrets there either. I went for a half-up style and I really don't know what kind of magic she used to make my curls last all day, but they did!

    Good luck!

I had a destination wedding and booked a makeup artist without a trial. I had a friend that lived in the area and she recommended the artist to me. I had seen her work on my friend and knew I was in good hands - site unseen. If you book without a trial, be sure to get pictures or example of their work before booking. I don’t wear makeup up often so she was my first and only option. Lol! It worked out great!

I am going to do my own as i struggled to find someone better than me. I suggest practicing a lot first. The most important thing will be getting a foundation shade that is true to your skin. I like the ordinary’s foundation. Its smooth and airy. I suggest a pigmented palette. Usually you can get a huge great pallete from Morphe, they usually have them for 25-50$. I recommend getting eyelash extensions before you go so you dont have to worry about falsies. I also like morphes contour palette! I have seen a lot of people recommend Stila and Kylies Kits for long lasting lips. I hope this helps you girl.
