diy Decor Idea: wine bottles

Pirate & 60s Bride, on May 3, 2020 at 5:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

OMG, my hubby and I only recently discovered we like Chianti. We now have several wine bottles that would have been PERFECT for our wedding reception (I'm going to donate to Goodwill). If any of y'all are enjoying wine right now, consider saving the bottles to use as your decor (if you are, post your pics or inspiration pics here)!

I just got some of the flowers in that we want to use so I decided to mess around with them. This will be what our centerpieces look like but there will be royal blue lights in the wine bottle( the lights just haven’t arrived yet😩) Also thought about adding some tulle to the lights but haven’t decided yet.

So pretty! Love the whole thing in that wood box. Did you buy the bottles? Only wondering because they’re so clear. Can’t wait to see with the lights.

No! My friends actually drank all the wine ( I don’t like wine) and then I found a way to take the labels off the bottles!

Does warm soap & water do the trick or do you need to use a special cleaner or spray?

I did hot water with dawn dish soap and vinegar, and it took them right off. Some of the bottles left the glue from the labels behind and I read afterwards that if I would have added baking soda it would have gotten rid of the glue too but I might just use some rubbing alcohol to get the rest of the glue off.

Good to know! Wine bottles make such fun home decor anyway. I was curious. Good tip to know about vinegar and baking soda.

One of the DIY projects I did was wrap a large bottle (like apple juice size) with large twine using a glue gun. I can't remember if I just bought the plain bottle at Joann's or bought apple juice and drained it but it didn't have any labels so that was easy.

Not wine but we used whisky bottles. Our table names were all Scottish whiskies and we had the name sign in a bottle of each. My husband and his friends contributed a few and the rest we bought super cheap off Facebook marketplace. We made the seating chart using a map of Scotland and the cards were pinned to where the whiskies were from. Would be very fun with wine too!diy Decor Idea: wine bottles 11

Spectacular idea! Love how your table setting turned out. Absolutely beautiful. Do you have a pic of your seating chart? Would love to see how it coordinates.
