For our wedding favors, I plan on buying small mason jars and making my own candles and sticking one of engagement photos on it. I've seen some videos on YouTube where you can print your pictures on copy paper and cover it with packing tape and soak it in water. You're able to peal off the paper and the ink from the picture stays on the tape so then you're able to stick the tape on the jar. (Here's the video)

Have any of you tried this before? Are there any tips or precautions to take when making it?

Honestly, skip the photos. I wouldn’t take a candle that had a photo of someone else on it, but I would definitely take a candle in a mason jar with some sort of neutral decoration on it. It’ll be a whole lot of work and I think you’ll find people leave them behind.

Agree with kiwiderbybride I won’t take a candle with your picture on it. Aside from your parents no one wants a picture of you to display in their home. Next question is have you ever made candles? There’s a learning curve but it’s not hard. It can get pricey if you’re buying good wax and wicks.

Maybe add a cute saying instead of a picture it’s a cute idea and I think you should definitely do it if you want one for your home. But I bet your guests would love a home made candle with a cute quote or saying and your date at the bottom.

Yeah you guys make a good point. I’ll probably do the picture for us and our parents. And I have done candles before with wax flakes off amazon and essential oils. I can’t remember the cost but I’ll be doing my research! (:
