Dieting - any recommendations?

Sharyl, on September 10, 2019 at 3:21 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 33

I know all brides are in the same position as me. I am trying to lose weight for my engagement phones that will take place in the next 4 months and my wedding is about 13 months away. I need to lose weight stat! Any recommendations for dieting? I don't eat a lot but for some reason it's really hard for me to lose weight. I've tried everything from weight watchers to jenny craig and those were all short term for me. I recently signed up for Orange Theory Fitness so i've been doing that to exercise more which I enjoy and it takes a lot for me to enjoy something like that. Any tips and tricks you can share to losing weight fast?!?

Burn more calories than you consume. There's no secrets, it's all about calories in vs calories out. There are tons of shortcuts and pills and fad diets, but 99% of the time they aren't healthy and aren't going to work long term.

This is what I did. Low Carb and counting calories on an app. In 4 months I lost 25lbs.

I'm doing Weight Watchers. I've lost 32 pounds since January. It's slow going but I'm also not as strict as I should be.

Wow!! Good for you. Nice job. Counting calories would annoy me so I’m just cutting out all the obvious bad carb choices

I did that at first but I wasn't seeing any results. Once I started logging everything I ate I realized that yes salads are good for you but the croutons, dressings and cheeses are hundreds of extra calories. I only had to count calories for 2 months before I was "trained" to make better eating decisions.

My co-worker is the same way, she doesn't eat a lot but couldn't seem to lose weight. She started this program where she would eat small, healthy snacks every two hours, and drink a lot of water every day. It really worked for her and she was able to lose 15 pounds in one month.

I have been working on losing weight for my wedding too. What works for me is cutting carbs & sweets. The best thing I did was commit myself to one month, just eating meat, veggies, fruit, and some diary. I also focused on portion control. I now eat what I want but am aware of portions and mindful to stay away from carbs and keep drinking lots of water. I lost about 30 pounds over a period of a year.

The only way to lose weight is to take in less calories than you burn. The easiest way to do that is different for each person. For some it may be cutting out entire food groups and for others it may be tracking calories and seeing how much they are taking in and lowering that to their goal. Losing more than a pound or two a week isn’t healthy. A lot of times “fast weight loss” is really just water loss or a loss of muscle.

I’ve done keto, it really works! I’ve also done weight watchers, they both are good, but keto works faster!

I think OTF will be awesome, I've had a ton of friends see great results from that. For me, I cut out dessert, soda, and creamer in my coffee. I basically drink black coffee and water, that's it. I did HIIT workouts twice a week, the Tone It Up app at home the other 3 days, then walked 3 or more miles every weekend with my husband & our dog. I lost 15 lbs in 6 months for our wedding.

I'm a huge advocate of Whole30. When I did my first Whole30 in February, not only did I lose 6 pounds, but I felt AMAZING. Before I did it, I didn't realize all that crap I was eating and putting into my body. I wasn't even trying to lose weight, but with eating whole/natural foods I just naturally lost weight. You don't count calories, you don't weigh your food, and you can eat as much as you want of Whole30 compliant ingredients. Also, talk with your doctor for any suggestions.

I wouldn't try to lose a lot of weight fast. The faster you lose it, the faster you will gain it back. You definitely have a lot of time between now and your wedding to research the best lifestyle change for yourself and what works for you. I also think OTF will be awesome!! Good luck! Smiley smile

I’ve been fairly successful with WW which I recently paired with Intermittent fasting and it’s been great. I’ve lost 42 lbs thus far

Came here to advocate for intermittent fasting! Keto also really works, you could probably combine the two and I’m sure you’d get fast results!

I cut out soda and my 2nd cup of coffee in the morning. I switched to water only, I work in an office and there is always treats/ sweets floating around. I don't eat any of them anymore, which has helped (they usually bring in something like at least 2 times a week). Portion control is what really helped me lose some weight; I don't necessarily cut things out but I cut them in half or even less.

Cut out sucrose (table sugar) and all processed foods. To go further, you can also try keto
