Did you wear your wedding rings to your beach honeymoon?

HeLovesMe, on December 15, 2014 at 4:49 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 17

I know I won't want to take it off after just having it on for about 20 hours, but is it a good idea to wear my wedding rings to the beach? We plan on spending some time getting spa treatments, taking tours, swimming, snorkeling, etc. I don't want to take them and then just put them in the safe there. What did you do? What would you suggest?

Nope I didn't. What if it slid off, id be devastated (I work in jewelry and have heard too many stories of people losing stuff).

Also, I have this irrational fear of being bitten by like a barracuda because a lot of fish are attracted to shiny things.

We did not. I did hate not wearing them so soon after getting married, but it was peace of mind knowing they were at my parents' house safe and secure so we wouldn't lose them.

FH and I went to Florida right after he proposed last February...I wore my ring to the beach and in the water, granted we weren't doing anything more than wading in up to our waists to cool off. Had we planned on any activities then I probably wouldn't have

I got a cheap CZ set and wore that. I also take my rings off to shower, sleep, workout, clean.

I wore mine the whole time - I did not take it off once. We spent a week in Florida at a rented house on the beach (lots of beach time) and then we were on a cruise for a week including snorkeling excursions and more beach time. Just make sure it is fitted properly for your finger and have a rider on your homeowner/renter insurance for it just in case. My ring is insured at its full replacement value and I pay $10 a year for that coverage.

We kept them in the safe for the most part and put them back on for dinner.

H brought a chain that we would put our rings around and he'd wear them on his neck.

Definitely having a hard time with this decision. I'm going on a beach vacation next week and am planning on wearing a CZ e-ring I bought for like $20 at a costume jewelry shop, but I hate the idea of not wearing my ring right after my wedding. Seems silly to risk it, though, even though my ring is fully insured and fits well. So I will probably end up wearing the fake set for my HM.

I wore mine the whole 10 days in Hawaii. I'd even lost weight since I'd had them sized and had no problem. These are rings you're planning to wear for the rest of your life-- might as well start with the HM!

I wore mine during our week-long honeymoon in Puerto Rico and it was fine. Mine is sized well and doesn't really slide at all. DH wore his the whole time even though his is loose on his finger but it has a hard time slipping past his knuckle and his was fine as well.

We both wore our rings the whole time. No issues. I even went scuba diving with it on, lol.

The only time I take my e-ring off is when I wash my hair because the halo diamonds catch in my hair. Otherwise they never come off. I regularly wear my rings scuba diving. The only thing I would be concerned about is getting sand in the setting.

I rarely take my ring off right now. I imagine that with the band, it'll take some getting used to. I'm just concerned about damaging it in the water, sand, pool, etc.

My ring fell off in the pool while playing water volleyball soon after I got engaged. It had already been sized AND I'd worn it in water before. I think it was just the different lotion I'd used that day. For that reason (as much as I hate it), I'll be putting my rings in the safe to wear at dinner when we know we won't be in the water anyway.

Since we are going so far away (Maldives) and I would be scared to lose it, I'm probably going to leave my engagement ring at home. I will be wearing my wedding band though (plain gold ring, no diamonds). It's slightly loose-fitting but I'll make sure I don't lose it. I am never planning to take it off once we are married.

My band and e-ring both have stones. I might just wear a band and still leave it in the safe if we're going into the water.
