Just like our wedding day, rain rolled in and tested our resolve. We had already rescheduled from a sunrise shoot on May 5th to sunset on May 4th, as the weather forecast for the next day looked pretty bleak. Storms were predicted for the afternoon of the 4th, but we were going to meet some groomsmen to watch a hockey game, so we dressed comfortably, hoped for good stormy light, and brought photoshoot clothing as a backup. As we drove to the other side of the island, big, fat raindrops started to hit the windshield. Grey clouds coated the horizon. It was pretty much a torrential downpour. After watching the game for an hour and no letup in sight, we decided to call off the sunset shoot and try our luck with sunrise again. We were leaving for the Big Island the afternoon of the 5th, so it would be our last chance. Sad that our gamble had failed (but happy that the Sharks were winning!), we ordered drinks and appetizers. Just as we took our first bites, we got the text - a photo of the clouds clearing, and the words, "The view from our place looks promising." We scarfed down the appetizers and rushed to change before the light was gone.
We made it just in time.
