Destination Wedding = No Honeymoon?

We are getting married in Vegas in February 2020 and will take a honeymoon. Most likely a year from the wedding. Mostly because I won't have enough vacation time. In my experience there is not really that much to do in Vegas itself, but outside of Vegas there are things to do. I guess it kind of depends on your budget, what's important to you, etc.

We got married in Mexico. We initially thought about changing resorts after the wedding but we didn’t. Logistically, it wasn’t as easy as we wanted it to be and we liked the idea of unpacking and relaxing. We are looking forward to a trip to Jamaica next year but i don’t really consider a 1+ year delayed trip a ‘honeymoon’. More so a trip.

I was wanting to fly off to New Zealand for a few weeks. I like the idea of doing as sort of a 1st anniversary trip as well.

I don't know why, but Vegas just doesn't seem like a honeymoon spot to me. I want to go to New Zealand for a few weeks.

My hubs and I got married in New Orleans and then honeymooned in Barbados. He was thinking the wedding would also be our honeymoon but I then told him that we are going to do a real honeymoon. He was very glad that I made that suggestion.

I had a destination wedding in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and I honeymooned at Isla Holbox in Mexico. Just a different place about a 2 hour drive and a 30 minute ferry.
You have a lot of options close to Vegas that you guys can honeymoon afterwards. California is close and has lots of options such as San Francisco, Napa, Santa Barbara and lots of close by places.

We’re having a DW in Vegas as well. But the honeymoon will definitely be elsewhere. In our case, we already go to Vegas 1-2 times per year. So remaining there wouldn’t be a big “Wow” for us. Also I personally can’t imagine being in Vegas for a week because 3 days is usually just enough. There isn’t much outside of the strip, so It gets old quickly.

That's what I've heard, which is why I am like that is not a honeymoon lol.

Our wedding will technically be a destination, in the Florida Keys, but we don’t live in the keys. (We do live in Florida). That won’t be our honeymoon, but we haven’t decided where it will be yet.

We’re getting married in key west and doing the honeymoon in Europe.

View Quoted Comment We actually changed our honeymoon location from Cancun to Las Vegas. We too go to Vegas a couple times a year, but that also makes it appealing because we don't have to feel rushed to do so much. I want my honeymoon to be a luxurious, relaxing experience and we are staying in a suite at one of the best hotels on the strip. I originally chose an all inclusive to fulfill this (as opposed to some place like Paris where you have to get up to sightsee), but we hate the beach plus I'm afraid that we'll get a room with weak air conditioning and being bored from resort activities. Vegas has no shortage of activities and some of the best dining in the world. The suite I reserved also has some of the best views on the strip and comes out much cheaper than the AI. I'm looking forward to putting on the "do not disturb" sign and ordering room service, going to the spa, and dining where celebs dine. Things I've never done in Vegas! I absolutely believe you can have a great honeymoon experience in Vegas!

We are having a destination wedding next May and are going to Spain/Portugal for our honeymoon. I think it's fine to suggest going somewhere else for the honeymoon!

We're doing a DW in Mexico and then doing our honeymoon in St Lucia, only downside is that we have to fly back into the states to fly out again, I couldn't find anything direct from Mx to St Lucia smh.
