Delayed reception

Amanda, on August 11, 2022 at 1:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

I am looking for help deciding on how to make an entrance into our reception that will be a month after the destination wedding. Do we still come in introduced or make a casual entrance? Back story on wedding dets..We are having a wedding weekend for 50 and a reception for 200 back home that will be a casual festival type event with tipi tents, bonfires and pyro fire dancers with plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained. I feel like we should still wear our wedding attire and the fiancé doesn't...

I am looking for what people think would be appropriate for such an event.

Thank you!

I have been to a wedding like this - we didn't make it to the destination part, but we did to the local reception! The bride wore a different wedding dress, but still a wedding dress (she a lil extra, gotta love it) and they introduced them like this - "and for the second time, please welcome Mr. and Mrs. xxx!" it was cute, it sounds a little pretentious now that I type it but I swear it didn't sound that way lol.

Edit: even though its casual, it wouldn't be weird to wear your wedding dress & I absolutely would if I was you!

That is a wonderful idea to have the additional reception. This lets others who were not ready for (or not invited to?) the destination. I think it would be wonderful for you to be dressed either in your destination gown or a second one. This is the first time many will see you as a new couple and you should stand out in this way. We of course have to work this out with our fiancés. But does he have to rent a tux or suit again?

I had never thought about a second dress but I love the idea. He will not need to rent but that is a good thing to think about also. Thank you for the great ideas!

Thank you for the idea of a second dress. I never thought about that and I think maybe a more simple dress would be nice. Thanks again for the comment!

I like that introduction "for the second time." It is a bit playful but still would be okay to say first time, since it was the first time for many of them. (Nah. It did not sound pretentious.) It could also be "we now introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. yyy" to be more generic.

That second dress was Bailey's idea. I just wondered if your FH would have run into an issue for what to wear.

I just noticed that your return reception sounds like a destination event in itself. Wow.
