I personally wouldn't use it especially if you have things that require cutting. Plastic silverware isn't know for being the most sturdy or best for cutting through meats.

Plastic is not inappropriate on its own. But unless you get the heavy duty plastic silverware from Costco, it will break by barely using it because it’s not sturdy. Cut out something that you don’t need or want (but feel obligated to include) that you and your guests will not miss to pay for renting dishes and real silverware. Most rental companies do not require you to wash them before they are picked up.

It depends on what the style of your wedding is. Like, is it a picnic at a park? If so then yes. If you reception is anything beyond super casual then I don't recommend it. Nothing worse than trying to cut food in your nice clothes with plastic utensils.

The plate ware and utensils used should reflect the formality of the wedding. So if you're having a backyard wedding, BBQ, etc. then plastic may be ok. Anything more elevated than that, you will want to go with traditional utensils.

To avoid plastic I am thrifting vintage silverware over the next year! It’s so cheap and afterwards you’re able to sell or donate it! Good luck ❤️
